Everything I need to put in my field?! ;)
I am moving my 2 horses from a DIY yard to a 2 acre field & so far have only purchased a mobile stable block & some grass mats! I need the following:
Railway sleepers
Hardcore
Rubber matting
Field water troughs or trugs
Water butt
Poop scoop
Broom
Lights
Solar panel
Tie up rings
Wheelbarrow
2 food bins
+ most probably a lottery win to fund all of the above!! ;-)
Seriously if anyone can give me any tips of where to buy cheap or 2nd hand, I'd be most grateful! :)

hardwear stuff ie wheelbarrows etc are best bought somewhere like b&q as anything equestrian related adds ££'s!

Thanks, I will try Asda for trugs! I looked in Homebase & cheapest barrow was £36! I'm just a bit tight & want to get it all as cheaply as possible!! ;-)

The other places to try for trugs and barrows etc is Costco. Not sure if you have them in your area but they always have all sorts of bits at cost price.

For water butts and feed bins, call the local council and ask them what they do with their damaged wheelie bins ;) If your local council provides them that is. They'll often let you have the damaged ones for free as it costs them to dispose of them. It's normally just that a wheel is missing, but they still make good feed bins if disinfected etc, and if you drill a hole in them you can fit a tap and you have a water butt :)

if not ask them if they have a scheme for subsidised water butts - lots of them do now so you should be able to get one for your house and then take it to the field :)

I think this must be your local council so maybe try the number at the bottom?

You can buy plastic bins cheap from Wilkos. Wheelbarrows you are best with a decent builders one if you want value for money. Brushes I have one decent builders one from a local hardware place & a small cheap one from b&m. Shovels again you are better with a builders one. Tie up rings are about £1 or so from local feed merchants. Robinsons are cheaper but not worth postage. Keep your eye on eBay, preloved & freecycle too. And for drying rugs, I hang old pieces of wood from haybarn roof with cheap plastic drainpipe over to stop splinters. Keep an eye out in places like b&m, poundstretcher home bargains etc too, in summer you see stuff like water butts in there.

Thanks everyone, some cracking ideas there!! Never would have thought about contacting the council for a waterbut!! ;) I have looked at cow mats but can't find any that are any cheaper than equestrian ones! My grass mats were an absolute bargain from EBay, so I am keeping my eyes open!!
