I was just trawling Horsemart because, well, I'm a sad person who enjoys seeing what's for sale even though I don't need a horsie.

Anyway, I saw this advert and just thought it seems a bit cheap? Not that I know much about pricing but it just seemed like a very good deal for a vice free cob, nice size and stamp, good to hack and compete, good age, can be ridden by novice... I promise I am in no way affiliated with the owners, I just wondered! There must surely be a catch or am I missing something? I guess the market is pretty hard right now.

I have never had a cob but the more I think about it, the more I think I'd love one! I might just show this advert to my mum... not that we have the space, money or need but you know! :D

As you know i am horse hunting and this horse caught my eye to, but just like you i thought that the price is a bit low compared to other cobs, i thought maybe it was because of the age???? not sure might be being ageist though :)

My OH says they are too far from us though so, the search goes on, but i definitely agree with your thinking re the price

It says at the end the right home is more important than price. Maybe atlast someone actualy means that. I hope he finds a nice home he looks so sweet.

What a lovely horse. Must say I can't see what the catch could be, if there is one.

I haven't looked on Horsemart for a while so I've not seen that location map before. Surely that's not a very good idea? Oh here's a fab horse and this is exactly where it lives if you happen to be passing with a horsebox and a pair of wire cutters at about 2am. I know if people want to come and see the horse you'd have to give them directions anyway, so maybe I'm being paranoid.

Im a cob person and I dont like him not sure why. His back is very long and I like a good compact ass maybe thats why ;D . Maybe its his area everything tends to be cheaper the further north you go??

Or maybe this person genuinely needs a good home for him pronto ?

From the title i expected to see an obese cob with hidden potential. But he looks nice and fit and in good shape. And 12 is not old at all. That's still very cheap for up north. He looks a really lovely sort (for a cob :p)

I googled the phone numbers and those are the only adverts they have put up, so not a dodgy deal anyway

Looks like someone will get a nice pony

He looks and sounds lovely :) Sounds like they may need to sell him for some reason rather than want to sell him. Hope he soon finds a good home. If he was a 16hh boy I'd certainly be having a look :)

As a cob, he's actually not that hot to look at, and he's too short to be of interest to people as a horse!

Add to that he's 12 (not that I'm ageist!) and I think there is the reason for your price.

Shame he's not a touch cheaper... We have a vacancy on the yard for a nice, safe cob (and cheshire to cheshire is a lot quicker!)

Oh it seems to have gone, it was definitely there earlier to the bottom right of the ad. There was a little map that you could zoom in on and it showed names of roads and everything. Someone tell me it was there and I'm not going mad!

Perhaps it's just personal taste which makes it seem like he should be worth more? In the future my parents and I would definitely consider getting a cob for them and my novice fiancé to ride. This horse is just the sort of thing we would be looking for because he could take the weight of a man but would not be too tall to be offputting for my mum (who, as she's gotten older, is now a little more nervous of the tall horses like Belle). It also has the ability to take them beyond just hacking about but would still be safe. Also, I could ride him! Yay! :D

I quite like the way he looks too. Then again, I have no experience with cobs at all. Also, 12 always strikes me as an excellent age because they have some experience but aren't knocking on! Maybe I'm just mad?

Basically, ME WANT.
