As title really, have been a member for a year, jumped on a regular basis, and have never managed even a double clear bsja! Jumped double clear arena eventing a few weeks ago, and go eventing, but eventing seems better, as at least we can have 1 down in the Sj, and still have a chance?
Money is tight, but I do quote like going affiliated .....

Why not leave it for a year or so, it will free up a bit of money for the eventing, if you are getting placed regularly I can see the benefits of being affiliated but otherwise it is an expensive game.

It depends how much you enjoy it and what you plan to do with the horse. If you need to sell, never having had a DC may prove an issue depending on what you market him as. But as ever with horses, if you love it, do it.

Many affiliated venues also run unaffiliated events. Far cheaper if you won't want to try to move up the grades.

She is not for sale, so not massively worried about her record, I was thinking I might have to sell her, but got a pay rise (hooray) so don't have to :).
I know I can jump in my area at BS centres, but for some reason it doesn't feel the same, why, I don't know. I definitely prefer the eventing, we have more success.
Maybe it is because I feel like a failure at BS I just want to conquer that lack of double clears, and my rubbishness!

I think I'd not renew, but spend a year doing unaffiliated and try to get more consistency, once you're jumping a few DCs then you can always join again :)

That's true, would make sense to improve unaff. I have quite a few BS centres that do unaff, so would still be jumping consistent courses etc....
Thanks jenn bags, and everyone

I think if you enjoy it, then carry on!

Do you have an idea of what's going wrong for you not to be getting double clears? It might be worth considering trying a new SJ trainer who can help you work on the specific challenges that are causing you to have poles? Doesn't sound like you're far off!

She jumped a lovely clear at Munstead today, we are so close, mainly cos I am learning to keep my hands super soft so she doesn't hollow, hmmm, lots of good points to consider. Thx everyone
