Which Albion jump saddle would you recommend?

Hi. Has to be an Albion. This is the only make that suits his frame. Currently ride in an Albion dressage SLK. But ... need a jump saddle. Would be second hand. What style should I look out for to buy. Need 17” medium wide. Upto about 400 pounds. Then I can get Katie Eaton to flock to fit.

I have an albion K2 jump. Love it. They are quite popular and tend to hold their value, but do regularly come up second hand. The more expensive second hand ones have the adjusta-tree so if you don't want the adjustable gullet it will be less expensive.

Thank you. I’ll have a look on line. Is a K2 a GP saddle or CC saddle as I just need it to jump the smaller fences.

K2 jump is a jumping saddle not GP or cross country.

The principle of jump and cross country saddle is more or less the same, just that a jump saddle has a flatter seat and is generally more 'close contact' than a cross country saddle (or ones called event saddles)

How often will you be jumping? If not very often and the jumps are lower than say 70cm you may be able to get away with a GP rather than spend ££ on a jump saddle. Only if your lower leg is secure, your balance is good and your horse is happy jumping in a GP, though.

Thank you. I’ve only just started jumping him and have been using my dressage saddle. I’ve looked on line. The jump saddles are more expensive as I think the updated newer design

Ask Katie which one will fit, they're on all on different trees, only someone who knows what will fit your horse should advise (and of course whether it may suit you or not, though generally the horse has to come first). I would say hunting saddles have the deepest seat of jump saddles, (show)jump saddles have the next flattest seat and XC the flattest overall....plus the flaps get more forward cut. People tend to ride shortest for XC, and need to be able to push back in the seat for drops etc.

The K2 jump is lovely but very popular - can't comment on the Albion GP specifically but personally not a fan of jumping in a GP as the seat is too deep for my liking on most.
