Which are the best over reach boots for keeping egg bars on?

Our spotty horse has got egg bar shoes on because of a navicular cyst. It is important that they stay on. Problem is that ordinary rubber overreach boots do not do the job at all. Has anyone any suggestions as to the best type to use?
 
I am interested in following this one...

The best ones I have used are the Premier Equine ones with the little lump in the back which prevents them turning. I bought the size up from what I would normally buy so that they would more than cover the bottom of the shoe. They are really thick too so tend to stand up to abuse too. However, can I find them now I really need them, no!

I am going to order some more asap if no one suggests any others on here

I have been to Robinsons today and bought the Professionals Choice quick wrap bell boots as they seemed really thick and substantial. I got a bigger size to make sure they come down as far as poss. However I have not used them yet and was wondering if anyone had any better suggestions!
 
Mine doesnt have eggbars on but overreaches badly so can pull anything off.

He wears normal rubber overreach boots with the velcro fastenings + another pair 2 sizes bigger on top. This means that the back of the shoe is well covered and he isnt bothered wearing both pairs and the bigger pair dont turn around his dainty feet as the smaller pair hold them in place.

Failing that, I think Premier Equine have about a million boots in their new catalogue, or otherwise maybe try the woof wear or westrop ones?
 
I can recommend the premier equine ones. I am on my 2nd pair (over about 5 years or so!)
Jasper has his on all year round and they don't rub or make his feet go all soft around the coronet band like the rubber ones do.
 
My horse has recently had heart bars fitted - so I've been busy buying overreach boots too.

I've just gone for very cheap and cheerfull ones - bright yellow for the field, black ones for exercise. They are rubber with the double velcoro.
 
Having the same trouble - mine has kept his on by wearing oversized overreach boots - just the cheapy velcro ones, he is taking chunks out of them all round because they do actually come into contact with the ground - whether this is his other front foot standing on them or back feet I dont know. I guess at least he is ripping the boots easily and not straining his legs or anything by having very tough ones that dont rip. He is out 24/7 and behaves like a over excited baby giraffe so they are taking a pounding. (And he is meant to be lame!!! Looks perfectly sound to me as he rears, bucks, spins, does sliding stops, extended trots etc!) ;-)
 
The Premier Eqiune Ones are by far the Best!!!!!

i did a simular post a while ago and they where what others recomended to me we also got a pair of eskadrons which in the month we have had them have already got a tear in them and don't wash as well and cost more

the premier equine ones seem to keep very clean despite feeling like any little thing will stick to them, they dont rub or spin, the sizing guide on the website is very good and i think the price is very good (we got some old ones in the sale too which are good for in the field)
 
I had eskadron ones as my mare has bar shoes and pads.
I have now given up as she was getting bruised/rubbed heels from which ever i used.
Even with her antics in the field she hasnt budged a shoe without them yet.

I found that those rubbed.

Egg bars are a nightmare to keep on and the only boots I found successful were by Horze in extra large so that they completely covered the shoe at the back.
 
I used to use the equilibrium o/r boots as they have the "lump" too and then a pair of cheap rubber boots on top. I find the equilibriums spun round but with the boots on top it wasn't such a big deal.

Highly recommend PC boots, the neoprene ones you're talking about should do a good job.

T'is a nightmare!

That's what happened to us - they spun round and the coronet band got rubbed.

Good idea to put another pair over the top - I never thought of that!
 
I find Woofwear neoprene boots to be best. They come very low (I even had to trim a pair shorter once) and never rub. The velcro is so strong. My boy lives in his and on average a pair last 18 months.
I've had the premier equine ones and the escadron and they just don't measure up.
 
If your horse is not being ridden, as mine isnt at moment and has bar shoes, then take hind shoes off and toes back a tiny bit more.

I have done this and he doesnt have over reach boots on.
 
Bea has graduated egg bars and pads and i have found Eskadron neoprene to be the best. When she went out 24/7 they started to rub so bought the sheepskin version and the rubs stopped. The cheap rubber ones were useless.
 
Thanks for your input everyone. The Horze ones look very reasonably priced- £7- I think I will order some as I can get 3 pairs for the same price as the Professionals choice ones.
