Hi all, just wondering if anyone has suggestions on a balancer?

I need something completely non heating but has all the goodness so i don't have to feed quantites of food over the winter.

He is 17hh warmblood but he is a good doer and would survive just on hay! But I want to make sure he is getting all he needs...

Thanks in advance :)

My WB x TB has been on Saracen bio-life 200 all through the summer, like yours he didn't need a feed as he was living out on fantastic grass, but I wanted him to have all the vitamins etc. that he needed. He's been great on it, before I started feeding it he was a little lacklustre but he has looked and felt much better after a week. It's expensive to buy as a bag is about £23 but it does last as you don't feed very much of it. I'm going to carry on feeding it in the winter in place of the cool mix that he usually gets as he does tend to lose condition.

Either bailey's lo-cal balancer if your horse is a good doer or their performance balancer is fab!
Put my hyper stressy mare on the performance and in a matter of a week her hair looked like velvet and she looks really healthy.
Have my good doer boy on the lo cal and he looks really healthy plus his feet have gotten so much better, although not sure if this is coincidence as it has been 6 weeks since he was last shod in front and foot trim behind and it still looks like he was only just done and he is much less footy.

i use topspec :) its good because if they dont need energy but need condition i put them on the cool balancer. if they are looking a bit over weight i put them on the lite balancer and if they need weight and a bit more energy i put them on the full balencer :) and my 17.2 only needs 2 cup fulls a day which isnt a huge amount at all :)

I was going to say the same as TWOSTROKE

equimins advance complete with a mug off linseed, my tb looks fab best he's ever looked. He gets a bit off fast fibre as well but only a mug full.

I use to feed topspec but after about a year all my horses had crap feet so came of it stright away

I use the powder from equimins as it's based on the average grazing so higher levels of copper, zinc etc.

Balancers such as topspec, baileys and bluechip being one off the worst don't have much in them. Low levels and tbh blue chip don't contain a lot. I honestly think balancers are a waste of money and would rather feed a higher spec powder.

I cannot recommend NAF Pink Powder highly enough!

However, in light of all of the other suggestions, and through personal experience, I have to say, that what works for one, may not suit another. So unhelpful as it may be, you will have to do a little 'trial and error'.

I tried topspec first, and having noticed no difference after 1 whole bag, moved onto Pink Powder, on the advice of my local tack shop, and this has worked miracles for my two. I didn't realise quite how much until I ran out the other week and noticed a difference in a matter of days!!
