Are there any balancers suitable for retired, good doer, native pony mare with an itchy tail ? She doesn’t have pin worms or sweet itch. I have been advised to avoid anything containing alfalfa & soy. She currently has Baileys Lo Cal Balancer but I have discovered it contains alfalfa & soy so looking for a more suitable way of giving her the necessary vitamins & trace elements. (Yes I am busy working my way through contents of balancers)

Maybe just a basic powdered vitamin and mineral supplement on a carrier of plain chaff or soaked haycobs? Keeps the calories and ingredients to an absolute minimum while providing the necessary vitamins and minerals.
Forage plus, progressive earth and Equinatural have some very comprehensive powdered balancers.
Personally I'm feeding my currently overweight cob simple systems haygain as a carrier and I've just bought feedmark supersaver14 as it's one of the rare ones that don't contain magnesium which my cob doesn't do well on.
A friend of mine feeds her sometimes itchy cob simple systems malle mash with a scoop of equinatural equivita for vits and minerals, and he seems to do great on that (was previously majorly itchy on topspec balancer).

Thank you. Any carrier I use needs to be very low starch & sugar as one lami pony & one cushings.

I use simple systems haycare, it's basically a hay replacer but I just use it as a mash, it's very low in starch and sugar (under 7% sugar and under 3% starch), just compressed timothy hay. It swells up a lot so I only use a small amount to put her supplement it and it's very cost effective.

Just realised I called it haygain before but it's called haycare! Also, I use allen and page veteran light on days where I'm in a rush as it soaks much quicker, but overall I prefer the haycare.

Who's advised you to avoid alfalfa and soya? If they don't have a problem with these ingredients then there's no need to avoid them, and alfalfa is in many low sugar feeds.
