I am schooling my sometimes clumsy 16.2hh mare in dressage and would like some advice on the best types of bandages. I currently ride her in fleece polo bandages at the moment, but she gets so sweaty underneath, so was looking for a better type/make?
I hack in boots but for schooling I like more protection, and I dont know theres just something about bandaged leg's!
My budget would be £35-40 max for a new set.

Thanks all x

good boots will give you more protection than bandages and you dont run the risk of being a bad bandager!!! dont put your vanity above your horses legs! and no bandages have a strike pad! go buy some flashy white boots! quick to put on quick to take off easy to wash. all horses will sweat under boots or bandages if working well.

Can I just ask why everyone seems to think a horse is likely to actually -strike- itself whilst doing flatwork? Jumping/galloping.... yeah, legs everywhere if the horse is anything like my lad, but the only time my boy managed to strike himself doing flatwork involved bolting, a hedge, and a fence. Horse very nearly somersaulted after catching the edge of the menage fence, DID strike his front leg obviously with a hind. Result? The bandage tore partially. Didn't move, didn't unravel, didn't do anything other than a very good job of protecting my horses leg :D

Bandages for me every time - several layers so knocks will be absorbed better. Boots don't really *absorb* the shock in my mind, only deflect the strike - think of it like someone stabbing a shield with something sharp, yeah, it'll probably deflect the worst of it, but there's still the impact to deal with!

I've never had a problem with plain fleece wraps, but if I could afford them, I'd love to invest in some of the NEW Airflow bandages or similar I think :D
