Sorry for the continuous questions!
Out of the following which would you choose?
Shavings
Megazorb
Miscanthus
Easibed
Bliss

I wanted wood pellets but none locally to me.
Thanks

currently use paper which i love.

moving yards on saturday and cant use paper so i am in a huge dilema as to what to use because ive only ever used shavings in the past which i hate with a passion!! my boy just turn them to mulch

considering easibed type stuff but never seen it used before so no idea what its like

I tried Bliss then moved to Easibed because I was taking out a huge amount of the bliss stuff every day. Been using the Easibed for about six months now and pleased with it. Was on shavings prior to that but this gives a firmer bed - Deans is prone to carving out the middle of his bed and shoving it all to the side! No dust at all and easy to skip out.

Ugh the dressage yard I work at uses pellets and they are awful, easy to muck out yes but constantly looks dirty! There is no way to get those stables looking nice and clean with pellets, it just looks like all the bedding is wet!

Shavings have always been my preference, but be careful which ones you get. Safemix are my fave, good value, easy to muck out and this was with a very wet, messy horse.

I've not had experience with the other types of bedding, but I do like the look of the Miscanthus. The Easibed seems to require you to deep litter, whereas the Miscanthus looks like you can either do a deep litter or shallow covering. The Bliss bedding looks like it could be a bit messy, but again I've had no experience of it so cant say!

Can you not contact the manufacturer and see if they will send you samples? There is no harm in being a bit cheeky and asking, after all they are all looking for new customers so sending one or two bags wont be too much trouble for them! Even throw in a little white lie saying you are on a big livery yard and there are a number of you looking at changing to the bedding and want to see what its like ;)

Of the ones you mention, I have used Easibed, Megazorb and shavings (Bedmax at the moment). Depends how you intend to maintain your bed. Easibed and Megazorb are better deep littered.

I think whatever you use, it takes time to get used to it - I've always hated different bedding, then as you learn to manage it, it get easier and nicer :)

So, I used Easibed first - made a nice bed, easy to muck out but it got expensive and nobody stocked it near me. Swapped to Megazorb. Once I got used to it, I loved it. Hardly took any wet out and the bed stayed clean looking - however, if your horse is a bed digger or a box walker I can imagine it will look messy. Also, it doesn't look as nice as a big bed of fluffy shaving... So, I've gone back to Bedmax shaving and I muck out fully every day.

I'm a massive fan of Equibright - but am currently using miscanthus, as £1700 worth of vets bills have dented my resources so deeply that I can't quite run to a pallet of Equibright (can't buy it by the bag unfortunately)

I really like the miscanthus - very easy to muck out, super absorbent, and looks lovely.

I'm on muscanthus purely because the farm where my two are kept buy it in so it's cheap and handy - but must say I'm really impressed with it! It's cheep, easy and light to muck out and super absorbent!
