Thanks all, I’m going to try him in a Stubben 3ring easy control gag. I really like the way it works without undue pressure, and instantly rewards as soon as the horse softens. Lots of great reviews from strong eager horse owners who seem to love it! ?? and thanks for all the comments. Really appreciated.

From experience a gag has a head raising action. Great for those that put their head down. Less great for those that lift their head up. A curb bit works to lower the head.

Any bit will release if the horse softens - that's entirely up to the hands on the end of it.

The Easy Control is different to normal 3 ring gags but it wouldn't be my first thought for this particular horse.

Mine would throw her head up if she wanted to go faster than I did. I use a Myler MB04 Low Port Comfort Snaffle with hooks and a curb strap. Instantly more settled horse going at the speed I want to go.
