Which bit/bits do you use and why ... ?

Maiden has the same bit as Law's but in SS. She came with this and goes perfectly well in it - it isn't broken so I'm not going to try to fix it! Although I am tempted to see how she likes an NS tranz link. She's perfectly controllable (even in a headcollar after 10 months off work!!).
Kit (small coloured tank) has a ported kimblewick (no slots) for being ridden by her owner, which she hates. I have tried her in a single-jointed happy mouth pelham which she was ok in but backed off a little, and then in a Myler short-shank combi with a triple barrel mullen mouth which she LOVES. It's a bit much for bog-standard hacking but will do for hunting or fast work. I reckon she likes the flexibility of the mouthpiece, and the fact that pressure is spread across all the contact points instead of concentrated in her mouth and on her poll (which makes her stick her head up and open her mouth). I'm going shopping next weekend to find an eggbutt with the same mouth and hooks on the cheeks, or something similar (or maybe an NS universal trank link), to try out. For schooling she has a loose ring French link snaffle (which I have yet to try).
Berlin has a JP loose ring single-joint snaffle. He rather hates it and I'd love to try an NS trank link but I daren't broach the subject with his owner!
