Which bit for a big lipped, fat tongued ISHY???

Just want some opinions really, Storm is going ok in her plain snaffle however is starting to lean on my hands a little.

It has been suggested that as she has fat lips and a fat tongue that I maybe try another bit, I know what has been suggested but would like to see what you guys think??

So any suggestions would be great!!

I have I.S.H's so i understand what you mean- can be quite tricky to find a bit that they like!- when mine was a 4 yr old we put him in a Sprenger KK bradoon with a thin mouthpiece which gave more room in his mouth- neue schule make some small bits too which may be suitable and they may well be worth a call. Also the French link hanging cheeks aren't bulky at all however they don't suit all horses but may well be worth a try. If your horse is happy, sound/comfortable (teeth all ok) and going well in the current bit then i'd maybe be inclined to see how it goes - v often leaning on the bit is not a symptom of the bit itself, but something that can be worked on with schooling, when the horse gets stronger in it's body and muscles with an active hind leg, it should lean less!-if that sort of makes sense but i'm not great at explaining!- gd luck though!.
 
i have a cob x tb who is exactly as you have described your horse. he goes really nicely in a loose ring myler comfort snaffle. it is pretty thin and has a barrel in the middle and is shaped to fit his mouth really well. it is also sweet iron coated at the sides

I think I have the same one which suits my tb who has a tiny mouth and huge tongue. Another option is Neue Schule Team up in the thinner size mouthpiece.
 
Thanks guys thats a great help, yes ive got a couple neue schule to try think ones a team up, and also a mylor which someone has suggested?? shes not bad at all but just isnt going as well as she was so think trying a couple of new ones may help shes a big girl but is quite lazy so trys to reply on me!! haha!
 
I have my ID x WB in a KK dynamic RS loose ring snaffle - the bars are quite thin (14mm I think) but the bit is shaped to fit in the mouth better and the lozenge seems to suit him.
I've tried a few bits over the years including the Myler low port comfort snaffle and a normal KK ultra loose ring snaffle and although they were nice bits this seems to suit him best. :)
 
I have a cob mare who tends to lean. She also has a small mouth and a fat tongue.

I find that she goes best in a solid mouthpiece. She constantly tries to evade the bit by leaning on a jointed bit.
A ported mouthpiece is also helpful.

Just another option.
 
Ron is similar - fat tongue, low pallet and fat lips. He's ridden in a myler 04 snaffle with no hooks (the one with a slightly raised middle section. Nice and kind and room in his mouth for that and his tongue.

ETA - it's the same one pootleperkin suggests!
