Hi, I after some suggestions for a new bit for my horse, one that will be BD legal. My 5 yo has a very dry mouth which two of the trainers I've been to have commented on - he doesn't salivate at all! One of them suggested I coat the bit in something tasty before riding to encourage him to play with it more which he does for a few minutes then reverts back. neither of the trainers thought it was me causing the problem with heavy hands, and he's also been the same with other riders and the trainer who rode him.

The issue is becoming more of a problem now as I start to compete at Novice and the contact is just not elastic enough. I'm not keen on swapping bits frequently and prefer to keep them simple but in this case I think I'll have to try

He's currently in a French link and I have also tried a KK Ultra (aurigan) loose ring for a month but there was no difference. Anyone had similar experiences or can recommend a bit that encourages salivation?

thanks

thanks for the suggestion i'll definitely bear these in mind for the future - can't afford to try one at the moment as they're a bit pricey, even on ebay!

Has anyone used a Myler sweetmouth on their horse?
