Which bit?

Looking at trying/buying a myler with this mouthpeice http://www.abitdifferent.co.uk/acatalog/Mullen_barrel.html for my TB gelding, but not sure whether to go for eggbutt or hanging cheeks? He's currently in a loose ring... I do have a hanging cheek I could try on him, except it's a happymouth and I think he'd chew through it! xD
What are the advantages of the hanging cheek?

Will probably hire before I buy anyway, but want to consider what is likely to be better first

The hanging cheek creates a little poll pressure so good for horses that tend to go above the bit/hollow - although some horses do not like to feel this "pressure" and can actually work against it.
Of course the upper cheek also prevents the bit from sliding through mouth too much.

*nods* Maybe I will just try him in the happymouth I've got, see how he reacts to the cheeks... and pray he doesn't chew it to peices! I think it may help guide him into the correct outline, just not sure if he'll be keen on how still it is in his mouth... we'll see I guess!

I recomend the myler bit your looking at, i have it for my throughbread cross, he used to just lean and pull, also refuse to work but now with this new bit he is starting to come out of himself more, proving he has an outline and its no severe at all. Another good thing about tghis bit is that you can compete in dressage events and people think its a regular hanging cheek which is GREAT

A truly different horse for this bit. best invention.
+ great for a horse with a soft mouth but leans.

although myler bit are good, id recommend neue scheule bits because they have a salox gold mouth piece.i use a snaffle neue scheule on all 5 of my horses for dressage. they accept the mouthpiece alot better and it makes the salivate more which is good.also,they are kinder but more effective than myler bits and, depending on what u go for, are well priced
