The post about hanging cheeks a couple of nights ago got me thinking, I was surprised by how much people disliked them.

D is currently ridden in a french link hanging cheek and goes nicely although she can be a fiesty beast and trot round like a crazy llama given half a chance. She's not strong in the slightest but I originally put her into the hanging cheek because she ignored her snaffle when I asked for her to soften onto the bit and just went faster.

What else might be worth trying?

to be honest, if shes happy in it and is showing no problems, why change it? you know your horse better then we do.

haha

Inca started off in a french link snaffle and then we had a couple of weeks in a cheltenham gag when out hacking (to remind us of our manners

) and now we have settled back into a french link hanging cheek - suits her just fine, we have brakes and can school, hack etc
