I'm looking for some advice on boots for my TB, he's barefoot has been for 18 months but uping his hacking on tracks and he's struggling on the stones - lovely on the tarmac and in the school - but I want him to be more comfortable on longer hacks.

I've tried a few and always get them too big! Hence the photos - recommendations for brands that suit this shape of foot would be really welcome. He's a ex racer TB, 16.1 but with tiny pony feet !

OP have you had a look at cavallo simple boots, they have a measurement chart on their website which may give you a rough indication if they would be suitable. My mare has quite petite neat feet and I have cavallos for her (tried others) and they are fabulous, never come off even in deep deep mud. Hubby calls them her trainers lol.

If you're having sizing problems, give the Hoof Boutique a call. You can send them back if they don't fit and swap for a different pair!

You need the width measurement too. They look quite round so consider renegades as they are nice and easy to get on and off without rubs, I've found.

Check out eBay, FB and Preloved for second hand boots in his size as well as you may not like the first type you get.

Its not as easy as you think buying hoof boots. We bought some a couple of weeks ago in case my horses nail bind turned into an abcess so he could still go out in the sandpit and stretch his legs, and the biggest pair in the shop did not even come close!

My ex-racer has tiny pony feet too and has been wearing Easyboot Gloves for many years now. If your horse's hooves fall within their size guide measurements, I can highly recommend. It is possible to hire a 'Fit Kit' which consists of 3 different size shells to see which best fits your horse.

Yes,I've got two horses wearing them, many miles, love the grip, fit. There are two tread types, sport and endurance. I have no experience of renegades, to be honest they're just too pricey.

thank you. Would you mind telling me where you purchased them from and if you used a fit kit before buying? From what I understand the width measurement is external and you have to go one size up possibly? is that what you found?

I specifically want to use them on hinds where I think their hind pattern would help. One hind twists on landing. Gloves don't work on that and I was wondering about heat fitting FB's to deal with that.

Presumably for our UK climate you are using the sport sole pattern?

many thanks. I haven't found many people experienced in using them to ask.
