Hi, I am just wondering which type of boots anyone could recommend for a 8 yr old cob who is very heavy on the forehand and not very sure footed. He does not brush or over reach, its mainly for protections and comfort.

Currently hacked out 2 a week and schooled 4 days a week. Hacking will increase to 4 days a week in summer and schooled 2 days. We hack mainly on bridle paths / roads and grass. Do a lot of trotting and canter where possible. All suggestions welcome, thanks.

Woof wear brushing boots are great for a bit of protection, they're pretty cheap too. I use them for everyday hacking, i use equilibrium stretch and flex boots for flatwork mainly coz they look nice and white! lol probably totally unnecesary.

Any type of brushing boot will do or even a tendon boot if you're worrying about him tripping up and crashing into himself!
i used to ride an old mare who was prone to this and she wore the sports medicine boots which gave fetlock support.

Bog-standard Woof Wear brushing boots will do the trick. The Club ones are I think still under £20, so cheap without being at all nasty as Woof boots are fab!

would also recommend the equilibrium tri zone i think it is brushing boots! you can get them on offer for around £15 a pair, and i tihnk they look nice to!

If you want any knee boots the best I have found are by westropp. not much and stay up well even if cantering, just need to make sure they are tight enough on top. We use them on one horse who is not v surefooted but only put them on the other if my farrier has forgotten to put road nails in again- we have made him a big sign now!
Both always wear over reach (double velcro ones I think from shires but not sure) neither have ever had and overeach but have cut them up a bit. My pony trashed a brand new pair when out hunting for first time this year but rather that than trash himself. Neither brush so they don't wear brushing boots unless jumping
