So my boy (as some of you may remember) is on his forth week of recovery after surgery for Pulled Suspensory Ligament (PSD).

At the moment he is out in a small paddock on his own for about 5/6 hours a day.

would any of you recommend I put boots on him in the day or night. Magnetic or others that are recommended?

Thanks

Bioflow are very good - they have central reverse polarity which means that the way they are set within the boot basically creates a different and far superior magnetic 'pull' than other boots of that price range. You can leave them on for 12 hours at a time and they rarely rub or chaff. I have been very pleased with mine in the 8 years I have owned them.

For turn out I would strongly recommend premier equine airflow boots. I have a set of four which I am delighted with. My friend who has recently qualified as a vet physio says her tutor at uni says the latest research shows that problems occur to tendons as a result of overheating. As I believe it the horse doesn't necessary have to be doing work for this to happen, just the wrong boot left on for a long period of time can have this effect. Overheating of tendons causes tendon cell degeneration and makes for weaker tendons. Airflow boots (not necesarry Premier Equine as there are lots of other makes on the market) prevent the legs from becoming too hot preventing this problem from occuring.
