I am losing patience with this horse. Nothing fits it. I have a dozen fly sheets, some decent brands that do not fit her. Yesterday she fell through the chest of a fly sheet given to me that just about did up. It was made by Kinkade, I have never heard of them. It was a 6'6" and the length is correct. As you can see from the picture she is very deep and getting anything to fit her chest and neck is proving a real problem. Before anyone says she is not that deep, the rider is 6'1" and the mare measures 15.1h. Over to you.

You can't be fed up with that face? Not possible! I would probably go with a Masta, Premier Equine or Fal for that beastie.

I've been chunking up Olive so that I can give you a run for your money this year AA, not sure I stand a chance against this girl though :) beautiful Martha!

My boy is 15.1 and I'm 5'11 so he is also very deep, he wears a rambo vamoose fly rug but I went up a size and it fits him perfectly. I have to do that with all his rugs. Or would a chest extender help?

Kincade is Countrywides own brand. In my opinion perfectly suited to TB types, Turnouts anyway I've never tried any other sorts.
I have a Rambo on my ID x type and its great chest wise. Agree Premier Equine are also pretty good for him.
Have you tried Weatherbeeta? I was never really a huge fan until getting this particular horse and again I've not got a fly sheet but the turnouts fit him beautifully.

Hi - my boy is 15.1 and is very cresty so I could never find a fly rug where the neck didn't come undone ALLLLL the time.

I finally bought a mark todd air mesh combo.

I bought a size up just to be sure but it really didn't need it as the neck is very roomy :)

That's interesting as this is the one I was considering getting as a spare to alternate with my Rambo and prevent rubs! On Ebay they are on sale at £39.99 with free postage so this one may well be worth a look!

I can't use Premier Equine rugs for my horses as they are cut too big around the necks and are so long in depth that they look like they are about to go jousting. However - the wrong cut for my lot is possibly just what you need for a cobbier horse. :)

I rate mine very highly - its also fairly tear/rip proof for those pesky rug destroyers :)

Thanks everyone, I will get searching again. I have just been admiring Olive, lots to look forward to there Billie.

Martha has doubled in size since I have been ill, I reckon there could be twins in her huge gut ! I keep asking her if she has been clubbing at night somewhere. I can't wait to start again with her, we both have serious bellies to shift.

Daft question probably but have you tried Shires? I also have a big chunky cob (only 1hh smaller!) and they fit him like a charm!

how strange rambos don't fit my horse at all! I even went as far as asking which rug they suggested for my horse! they didn't even bother replying. I have just tried the masta bug rug, rubbing his withers and a snuggy hood one, again to tight round his chest.
Premier equine rugs do usually fit mine though. I usually buy a size up as well.

I have a deep chested cob and would recommend Premier Equine - think they have reduced their fly rugs at mo too.. I have actually bought 2 of their sweet itch rugs this year so one is in the wash and one is on my horse and fingers crossed, touch wood they are outlasting all the rugs I have bought over the past few years (inc a boett) - apart from being dusty / muddy from rolling they look brand new.. and added bonus he has stopped itching so much :)

Thanks to all. Tried weatherbeeta yesterday, body length and chest good, but more like a tutu in depth and cut her breathing off around her neck. Bless the blooming outhouse.

Saddler not stocking premier or shires so will move onto internet shopping next for them and a Mark Todd.

Ah yes, used them for my 18 hander some years ago. Forgot all about them because i don't think of this mare as being actually 'big'. She is more like me odd shaped ! neither of us can buy off the peg stuff.

I'm thinking of getting one for the Draft horse this winter and giving the 2 yr old cob the hand-me downs, which as my late mum would have said 'fits where it touches', more of a mini-skirt than anything else, with a very fetching shawl collar. I'm hoping to be doing enough work with the Draft for it to be worth clipping her this year.

My traddie boy is built very like OP's mare (lovely mare by the way:)) and has to wear a rug for his sweet itch. He's 15.1hh and I find that a 6'3" rug will usually fit.

I use: Rambo SI hoody - fits perfectly. Premier Equine - good fit. Weatherbeeta (winter/turnout rugs) - good fit.

The only rug I've bought which didn't fit well was a Rhinegold. It was OK along the back lengthwise but far too baggy round his neck. Probably a size smaller would have been OK.

Cracked it at last.

The poor lady at Jackie Roberts Saddlery must think she is being stalked by my husband, he has collected and returned umpteen rugs, each with carefully written instructions about why they don't fit.

I had a light bulb moment this morning and despatched the husband - again, to the saddlers. The neck on an existing 7' amigo bug rug fits the mare but the body is too long. The 7 footer belongs to the big horse and the neck is huge on him. New 6'9" bug rug, remove the neck, put it on existing 7' and give it to big horse. Pinch big old neck and put it on new rug -- sorted.

I am exhausted. The lady at the saddler's is in hiding. The outhouse horse is comfortable.

All I need to do now is pick a moment to tell husband about the rails the outhouse horse has broken scratching her outsize arse because she was not wearing a fly sheet. I have been ill since February and I think the husband might just be regretting his comment of 'don't worry love, I will keep everything going'

Please horses, don't break anything else !!

Seen you now have this sorted but i'd also agree with the Big Horse Shop. Not got their fly rug but got a couple of turnouts for my 14.3 chunky mare which are cut really nice and deep and don't look like lycra cycling gear round her broad chest. The neck is massive on her (just going to move the velcro) but they're some of the few rugs that fit her nicely, and they've lasted me 2 winters and look as good as new (thankfully, touch wood!, she's not a rug destroyer). Lady on the phone is incredibly helpful too :-)

Oh, and think mine is in an Amigo bug rug currently which fits nicely, lasted 2 summers so far as well which is a distinct improvement on the previous somethingorother I had!
