Which breeds do you NOT like?

Arabs!! I think they are ugly!! And all the arabs i have known have a very stubborn streak in them.

Ah how can you say they're ugly!!

I dont dislike any breed I suppose I basically dislike owners who buy the wrong breed for the job they want to do and then complain that their horse is c---. I have a warmblood a TB and an Irish Draft cross

I'm not a great fan of gypsy cobs, anything really with alot of bone and half tonne of feather and woolly coat. Some warmbloods leave me cold aswell, a bit thick... or should i say selective hearing
BUT each to our own

a nice TBX, so not to fragile!!! for me

TBH not a fan of full tbs. Find them a bit OTT at times!
Think connies can be very stubborn, but good little ponies.
That's about al I've had, hate shetlands....just do!

Dare i say this but i'm not a huge fan of tb's not because they are'nt beautifull but because i look at horses as something i could ride and as i'm abit of a heifer size wise i would probably squash it.

Just remembered one breed that I really don't like....Akel Teke's....the ugliest horses on the planet imo

Hope no-one on here owns one....Sorry

I don't really think there are any horses that I don't like, although cobby fat horses do absolutely nothing for me.......I like horses for their personalities and although I would never buy certain breeds, doesn't mean that I can't like the individual horse.

And what is wrong with having an arse the size of a steam engine?

I'm also not keen on pure arabs but I do like arab crosses. Nothing to with the breed as such (though falling off one 3 times in the same lesson once didn't help) but I don't like riding small, skinny things - feel too big for them. I prefer to ride something a bit more 'solid'

appalossa's(sp) they are ugly. i have yet to see one with a half decent head or tail for that matter. and anglo arabs neither one or the other and 10 to 1 have a very narrow 3ft long face and all the worst things from both breeds.

i agree that most arabs in this country are breed poorly and most are throw backs i would be ashamed to even label half of them with the arab name. but a proper arab no other horse is even in the same league. they are by far the best looking and even if you don't like there attitude bet they still take your breath away with there elegance.

I don’t like miniature anythings. Don’t mind Shetlands but anything smaller should really be a dog. Yuck! I also don’t like Irish horses (but only because they don’t like me) and I REALLY do not like anything with spots. Wall eyes scare me too. I don’t mind arabs if they are of the chunky sort (like a proper arab…) but hate spindly little cross breeds that run round with their tails in the air looking like they are about to snap. I love pretty much anything else though!

Oooh but I wouldn’t but a chestnut.

RUNNING! Shall I leave now?! !

Ooh, I couldn't think of any breeds I had a specific objection to until you mentioned the miniatures... they give me the creeps!!

ermmm, also am probably a horse-racist as I just don't really like coloureds..... Taxi!

Pure Arabs arn't my cup of tea! I also dislike American Miniture horses!! Having said that I think they have there place just like any other, I just wouldnt choose to have one.

I don’t dislike any breeds, but im not so keen on the REALLY big bolshy type. Eg Percherons. I am very smitten with Shetland though! But only one little cute who ACTUALLY kisses you (post about it in CR
tongue.gif
) also not so keen on Arab, I think they are beautiful, elegant animals, but I find that they are highly spirited and they look ike their legs will snap!!

really not keen on arabs at all..dont fnd them attractive to look at, and i have known some flighty ones.

I think I will have to stick up for Warmbloods since no-one else will! My boy may well be thick, overbred and docile (although when he's rearing up on the end of his lead rope and waving his front feet at me I don't immediately think "docile"!) but I love him totally. I don't actually want a "clever" horse. I think that would worry me. I want to be the brains of the outfit not him! Also, docile suits me fine. I couldn't cope with rearing or being bucked off on a regular basis 'cos it would dent my confidence too much.

whoa why does everyone hate arabs so much, I think mine are great!
Mine have represented my riding club in all disciplines at area and national levels, do SJ up to 3'6, ODE's round novice courses, elementary level dressage (hoping to affiliate this year!!) hack alone/in company, hunt, pleasure rides, and of course showing at county level How much more versatile can you get??

couldn't agree more the only breed i really could never own a pure bred of. knew one which was an utter g*t as well which doesn't help my perception of the breed. basically i like some bone and substance where my horses are concerned. arabs are ok but only when crossed with something with more weight. loved my 14h2 welsh D x Arab!!!

but no dont think you could actually pat me to own an akal teke. sure they are lovely really just reaaly really really not my cup of tea!!!

[ QUOTE ]
Nope, can't think of any..there are obviously breeds that would be of no use to me, like shetlands and other mini ponies..but I don't dislike them..just have no interest

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm gald I started to read this post, before responding, as I couldn't agree more!!! They all have their beauty and every horse has a purpose. Just because that purpose may not be for me, dosn't mean I dislike it!

Haha! I just knew arabs would be near the top of the list!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who vaguely knows me on here knows I'm an arab nut, but each to their own, variety is the spice of life and all that.

Personally, I take every horse I meet on it's own merit, I think I've known examples of mean/stupid/bright/beautiful ones in all sorts of breeds. I prefer small, narrower, lighter type horses with a bit of "Hey! I'm here, look at me" to their make up. Anything really wide would cripple me and I can't get on anything over 14.2 from the ground, clicky hips and knackered knees have caught up with me. So that's anything big and wide out of the window regardless of how well it performs or is bred. So no specific HATES here.

Oh dear... arabs arent fairing too well here are they?! Followed by WB's, TB's and shetlands it seems.....!

I also forgot I dont like cobs either.... Welsh Cobs are wonderful though! But the other 'cob' is weird. They're massive barrels on short fat legs... they remind me of those fat dinnerladies we had at school! How anybody gets their legs round those things I will never know!
