Spillers Happy Dieter has been discontinued according to my local supplier.

thats a shame, it was nice too. I thought it was just my feedstore that had stopped selling it, but it must be a countrywide thing then

. I changed to hi-fi lite and Happy hoof.

It seems strange that the mollassed chaff has less calories than the hi-fi

i fed spillers happy dieter throughout summer-horsey didnt put on much weight at 2 and a half handfulls a day but was muzzled most of the time on lots of grass.
i have now switched onto happy hoof though-horse is losing weight too. But i do recomend happy dieter fo fatties! the only problem i found as it seemed to be hard to come by, the feed shop ordered it though.

Maybe it's due to the alfalfa content that the HiFi is slightly higher in calories, whereas your bog standard mollichaff is straw based?

does anyone know when happy dieter was discontinued? i bought some in june last i think...such a shame as just started uding it this usmmer-found it was great.
My local supplier stopped ordering it-but they said there was an increasiing demand for it [started tking small orders for people who asked]...bit strange if there was some increase in demand..

i feed my fatty on good doer, its great as i cna give her a whole scoop to eat and know she will be ok. it smells really nice/minty too so i'm sure she doesnt realise shes on the diet version :-)

as for people nicking your feed - do you keep your chaff in a bag? if so when you have room in the bag put 'stuff' in the bag on top of your feed, like your scoop - some bucket covers - some empty supplements boxes etc.
i know its annoying for you but if you make your feed difficult to get to people wont nick it!!
or write on the bag my feed hands off! it will make people realise your not stupid and you know they are nicking your feed! nothing worse IMO. but if you let people get away with it they will continue to do it no matter what feed you are on

The chaff with the least molasses in is dodson and horrell fibregy, this includes happy hoof, safe and sound and good doer. It is also softer than good doer and hifi lite. Has lovely minty smell too.

[/ QUOTE ] It may contain the least molasses but it is still relatively high in calories for a chaff, having 9.5 MJDE/kg - presumably due to the oil content.
