Well lister have been a good make for years, liveryman also have a good rep, personally though I rate these:

I've had mine 13 years now and they were second hand when I bought them, so can vouch for their longevity aswell as how good they are! I would also rate the smaller wolseley swift.

Thank you very much, really like both those clippers, wow 13 years is fantastic :)

Personally I would stay away from liveryman clippers had nothing but problems with them. Now have some Lister clippers and they are brilliant!

I have some old Liscop clippers that have lasted me well over 15 years, and I got mine second hand too; they take loads of abuse without complaining and have yet to struggle clipping the heaviest of coats, they are well looked after though.

Thanks, looks a nice clipper, its amazing how long they last.

almrc - ok thanks, can i ask what problems you had?

Cellie - i have always heard good results about them do you have just the mains pair or the pair which u can use as a battery pack or mains?

I used to have wolesey swifts, really liked them but haven't now got an electricity supply now near my stable so sold them ( to some one on here!) and bought the lister libertys again really like them, they are lighter than the woleseys and easier to use ( purely cause they are cordless no other reason) but if i am brutally honest they don't give quite as good finish as the Woleseys.
Both really easy to use and won't hesitate to reccomend either.

Thanks, i really like the lister liberty mains and battery powered pair as my one boy is great to clip so i can use mains where my other bot is very nervous and jumpy so a battery pack would be brilliant as then no leads on the floor, 2 in 1 :)

I clipped my cob a fortnight ago and used liveryman ones, I thought they were fab. Hes a wooly mammoth but they cut through him so easily and left no tramlines or anything. I used them to do a low trace and took me literally 5 minutes.

It wasn't that exact make you have a link to but it was liveryman, but I had problems with the battery pack, then they ended up eventually not charging properly and then they hardly lasted when they were charged. Then the mains ones ended up not clipping properly, I have no idea why, but I gave up. I had 2 pairs as they were recommended to me but I wouldnt touch that make again.

I bought the lister liberty yard pack which came with the mains adapter and the battery can't see me using the mains adapter very often but really like the fact if i forgot to charge the battery i could still run them off the mains.
I have to say the lack of wire to worry about makes them really easy to use and despite my girl being fantastic to clip it is so nice not to have to keep shifting a wire about and to be able to walk round without having to put the clippers down.

thats what i really like about it to a pack great for nervous horses like one of mine

I have the Liveryman Harmonys as couldn't quite stretch to the Lister Libertys. Absolutely love them, they aren't speedy but they give a lovely finish and cope with Genie's hair, although she is clipped very regularly through the winter and her first clip is early. I have heard however that they don't cope overly well with thick/coarse coats.

thanks fi, ummmm the thick cot got me thinking as my boys coats can be very thick to start off with.

Without doubt go for Listers. I have heiniger progress and they have been good but motor recently blew after having them 3yrs!! probably only dont 40 clips or so! Was not impressed!

lister al the way bought some 2nd hand ones nearly 30 yrs ago clipped many cattle and a few horses, and still working, orange ones, now got lister with a battery pack comfortable to hold and reliable only downside is cost of blades

I misread your thread and thought it said 'which clippers WOULD you like?'!

I was going to say thats very kind of you, thank you very much I'll have a pair of Lister Libertys please.

Have you looked on www.farmcareuk.com? Usually got excellent prices there.

Had my Liveryman Arenas for over 10 years now and love them! I had used a friends Wolseley Harriers a couple of times and they are good as well. Someone on the yard has Wolseley Swifts and they struggle to go a decent job on their hairy cob tbh. She clips every 3 weeks and they struggle to give a good finish - I normally end up sunning over him with my arenas to get rid of the lines.

The Lister Legends are brilliant. I have done about 70 clips this winter so far and they do a great job. Some of the horses are quite sensitive but they accept the Legend pretty well. I wouldn't buy anything other than Lister.
