The saddler has been and just told me all my saddles are now too narrow for my Gorgeous George.

He decided to grow to 17hh AND grow a pair of shoulders Mike Tyson would be jealous of!! Anyway I now have to get a new saddle. She(the saddler) told me not to go for a stubben or kieffer as these are too narrow in the gullet- I loved my Stubben Siegfried, Snigger, snigge

r- I'm now looking at some albions, jeffries and other types. As I do a good bit of eventing and showjumping I would really like a close contact again. What do you readers have?? What about the Albion Kontact Lite? I like the look of the excelle integra but its foam and Flock seems better as its somewhat adjustable??? And the Black country Vinici saddles look gorgeous too but V-very expensive.HELP PLEASE BIG DILEMMAPlease note I will probably have to buy one second-hand as I don't have that much to spend

If its to be ridden in everyday and not just for competitions i would recomend that you go for a normal jumping saddle over a close contact one. Close contact saddles are designed for short periods of jumping, not hours of schooling or hacking and so you could end up with a bad back if you go for a close contact as your everyday saddle.

Flock is definately better than foam if you need adjustability

I second what teddyt says about flocking being easier to adjust but I have close contact jumping and dressage saddles on both of mine and they do everything in them - hacking, schooling, hunting, the works. Neither of them have any problems with their backs - in fact, the one that was cold backed is no longer so but bucks like mad in a flocked saddle.. I hear good things about Barnsby saddles though.

I have a Barnsby cc and love it. Previously had an albion K2 jump saddle which i loved, but much prefer the Barnsby i have now. Mine is foam, but was second hand and hopefully horse should not change shape too much now. I also asked about using a close contact for everday riding and was told no problem as long as it fitted well.

Second Barnsby. My 4 yr old does everything in a Barnsby Xtreem and my boy before did aswell and was happier than he was in a wool flocked or air filled saddle beforehand. Really recommend barnsby, they are beautifully made, designed for the horse AND the rider, and dont break the bank
