Grass that is about half a foot to a foot long that has been grazed by cows a year ago and topped a few months ago

OR

grass that was strimmed a month ago and is used as a lami paddock and has new shoots growing?

Its going to rain on Monday and Tuesday and I wonder which is the lesser of the two evils for a lami pony ??

More sugar in the new shoots or am I right in thinking that in much longer grass, there is less sugar?

I am just checking as we have a lami pony who has been fenced off but this morning she escaped and we cant get near her !!

We have decided to leave her out on the long grass at night and lock her up during the day.

As I am no lami expert at all, I am wanting to check I am not going to cripple/kill her by doing this.

There's alot of freah grass about atm. If you're going to let her on long grass then muzzle her. She really does need to be restricted.

We had another fright today, thankfully that's all it was, a fright. But he's in to be on the safe side, on barley straw.

i would muzzle at this time of year on either grass.
longer grass does have alot of sugars in it though-the sugars are transported in the stem-longer stem = more fibre yes but also more sugar!
apparently the best grass is leafy and a few cm tall!
