I am trying to chose between the Mark Todd country boot or the Rydale Malham ones. It has to be either of these as my budget doesn't stretch anymore! Peoples opinion please :)

Don't know anything about the Mark Todd boots, but I have heard from a lot of people who were very disappointed with the Rydale boots, I think the sole comes away from the boot too easily and are then no longer waterproof!

I bought some Wyre Valley boots a few weeks ago (ebay), I think they are brilliant, in the same price range you are looking for aswell. Have been very comfy to wear, totally waterproof and still look new! :)

I have the Mark Todd ones and I love, love, love them! I have had them since last winter and they are great for yard work, riding, dog walking and look good with jeans or breeches. They were comfy from day one (I have the wide leg fit for my chunky calves.) They have stayed looking good and haven't fallen down the leg at all. Still warm and totally waterproof (and although they are warm, I have worn them all summer and my feet have been OK, not too hot.)

(By the way, I too have heard bad reviews of the Malhams, with them not lasting very long etc.)

I got the wyre valley ones the other day as well, they are lovely, so nice I had them three days before my daughter pinched them and said I better order another pair as she isn't giving them back. We have found them on the small side for foot space, usually a five so I got a six thinking of sock space, but to be honest I don't have much room for socks...I also have mega chunky calf's and they are plenty big enough.

I find the sizing just nicely on the generous side. I am usually a very standard size 6. I got the MT boots in a 6, wide calf, and they are perfect with thicker winter socks or walking socks but in summer with thin socks I pop an insole in.

I do suffer from very cold feet from about October to March! So the boots are great, as I don't have to have different size ones for summer & winter.

It's a bit puzzling though because on the website where I bought mine (Countrysmiths) it says they come up small. Obviously the best thing is to try them in person if you can (although Countrysmiths website always seem to have them at the best price!)

Malhams are only good for indoor or town use - they don't last at all if you take them off-road. Seriously, I'd save your money!
