which cream?

following on from the investigations to why my cocker spaniel has been lame she has a patch on her shoulder that was shaved to take joint fluid and to inject anti inflamatories. the patch is really dry, red where she has scratched it a bit.
can I put on NAFF MSM ointment? or I have some Aloe vera gel?
any help greatfully received
