As far as I could generalise - it has to be my gelding.
Only ever had mares before - and other horse now is a mare and they have a more independent spirit. My gelding is totally there for me - although not always willing to be told!
Mares generally. I've got 4 mares, a filly and 2 geldings. I have a full brother and sister, they're still only babies, 2 and 3yo, the 2yo gelding is more chilled out in the yard and will stand for much longer than his sister to be groomed etc. But take them away from the yard and he is naturally more spooky than his sister.
When I first got my gelding I said I would never have a mare - que all the rest of my horses being mares! I have ridden some superb geldings and some fabulous mares and don't generally have much preference of one to the other. My gelding is my soul mate but I still miss my little welsh mare well over a year after I sold her, he is Mr Reliable but she came to me feral and retained her independent streak, but when she was on your side she was amazing.
