Biothane or Beta is always best in my opinion Biothane is shiny (like Zilco) and slightly harder wearing than Beta, but Beta is my fav as it's softer and more supple.
I have a biothane hackamore from performance equestrian. I am really sceptical about buying expensive new stuff as everything now seems to fall apart after one year! But I have to say it's really good, has taken a lot of abuse and looks exactly the same as the day I got it. I had a leather one before and that was wearing out after 6 months!
the advantage of biothane over webbing, like Libby's, is that it doesn't rub when it's wet and it dries much faster, so for really long rides it's much better.
I have a zilco one and a plas one. The biothane Plas used is much softer somehow.
Performance equestrian are your best bet! or pop to a local endurance ride and you'll see the stands and can pick something.
Thanks for this recommendation. I'm definitely keen on these bridles and need something really hard wearing as always in a hurry and prioritise riding over tack cleaning for sure!
Thanks Morgan123 also, I've seen these biothane bridles on all the endurance horses and like the look of them. That's a good idea about the stands, there is an endurance GB ride near me in a couple of weeks time!
I have a couple of performance equestrian ones in Beta, they are really handy! I've also got one with a sidepull nose from a lady called Zoe at Pioneer Harness, again in Beta.
I have a zilco and performance equestrian bridle. Both are fabulous, easy to clean, comfortable and above all safe. I don't recommend webbing bridles and would personally never ever buy anything from libbys after bad experience of bridle failure at an event.
