which event riders have Autobiographies?

I wouldn't necessarily agree, although I haven't found the more recent books particularly well done or even that fun, on the whole. Mark's first book is a good read, Leslie's is a bit light, Ginny's and Lucinda's are a blast from the past so good fun.

There was also a fashion for horse biographies that seems to have fallen by the wayside now. There are some fun ones - Priceless, Murphy Himself, a couple of Lucinda's horses, Mary King's All The King's Horses etc.

Toddy's first one is fascinating and Pippa Funnell's is a good read, I found Mary King's all too rushed for my liking...

Over to You has one, although it is more of a collection of pictures of him than anything! My copy was signed by him though ;) so I love it :D
 
Not an eventer, but I've just finished Clare Baldings and that was a good interesting and funny read. She raced a lot more than I had thought.
 
I've just read Mark Todd and enjoyed that, also thought William Fox Pitt was decent read. Mary King's I found quite cold and very lacking in any emotion, just felt like a list of results
 
Another vote for WFP (loved his hamster story :D) and Pippa Funnell's.

Didn't like MT's 2nd one at all - skimmed over everything and just listed results.

Mary King's was ok, but came across as cold and factual.

Somebody said Zara Phillips but don't think she's done one unless it's a bio rather than an auto-bio?

Quite fancy Tim Stockdales but not at the price on his website although realise he self-published and needs to make the money back.
 
IMO the very best eventing autobiography is "Up, Up and Away" by Lucinda Prior-Palmer (Green).

It tracks the teenager Lucinda's purchase of a young TB for her to do Pony Club on - her first horse after ponies. The horse is the legendary Be Fair, but to start with it was far from plain sailing but with lots of hard work they got going together and didn't look back.

It is a really wonderful book and I would highly recommend it. I bought a copy for a friend recently on eBay for only a couple of pounds - I don't lend out my copy as it is just to precious!
 
Clare Balding's book is brilliant. Hope she writes lots more!
I'd previously read her father's autobiography so it was also interesting hearing two sides of a rather unusual family. She must be made of tough stuff to survive that upbringing intact...
