It's for a Cocker Spaniel puppy, show variety, but we do live an active country life on our farm.

I didn't really analyse these things when I first had Jasper. I would like to give Harvey the best start possible. I have one or two which I can't decide on and figured I'd use a poll as a "phone a friend" option.

I have my westie on royal canin and she is healthy, has a lovely coat and full of energy (not colouring and additives energy

)
In fact I can hear her crunching away on it in the kitchen as I type

Otto gets Skinners F&T Duck and Rice as it is the only thing I have found that doesn't go through him at a rate of knots and as such he keeps weight on! He loves his Duck and Rice and looks fantastic on it

The Skinners Puppy Food is also Hypoallergenic and fairly resonable at abpout £28 a bag I think.

Burns, good but expensive, their mini bites are about £23 for a 7.5kg. JWB - never been asked for their puppy food in the last three years, but the adult food is v expensive for what it is, and the qualtiy seemed to change when they became part of Pedigree. R/C - our dogs costs were very scurffy on it, and it is extortionate in price! CHudleys isn't bad, they have been expanding the range, but again I don't know anything about the puppy food. Hills, good food, expensive again though, Iams and Eukanuba - we never get asked for these products, I think it's becasue of their high profile problems regarding there testing on animals, raw meat, well you can, nothing wring with BARF, personally I couldn't be bothered with it, and I know I would never remember to defrost etc, and tripe stinks! Field & Trial is the best one there in my opinion, their puppy food is wheat gluten free, and is £28.99 RRP - they also do one calle dSUperior also suitable for puppies, can't remember the price, sorry!

Have to say that although we have a vested interest in Oscars (we have an Oscar pet food franchise), we've fed our dogs on F&T, JWB, Burns, Hills, R/C and CHudleys as bags have become ripped or out of date, and none of them have compared to Oscar, all ours look fab and can work all day shooting, and come out bouncing the next day - and my lurcher goes showing in the summer, does very well and is often complimented byt he judges for his condition.

The breeder should give you some food to last a few days, if you decide to change, add a little bit of natural yogurt to the pups food, it should help the change over, and limit any tummy problems!

Have been feeding Raw Meat and bones for 12 years and would not even contemplate feeding anything else on the list to a dog of mine! Main reason they all contain unnatural food for dogs and all are cooked excessively and have nutrients added back in.

(sorry, just joking, couldn't resist!)

My 10 week old puppy is on Hills Natures Best. It's quite expensive and I find it difficult to source, but I took advice and was told because this was what he was weaned onto by his breeder, that he should stay on it until he's at least 12 weeks.

I think once Chirstmas is out the way I'm gonna slowly change him onto James Wellbeloved, as it's highly recommeded around here and easy to source!

Poppy has done well on the Hills Science (both the puppy and the adult small breeds versions).

Have never tried any others (have never needed to).

Mother feeds pedigree chum light dried food to her lab, and lets just say you wouldn't want to be cleaning up after her

When is the happy event patches - Sat???

Fiona

Yellow Dog is super fussy so I alternate between Baileys working dog, Dodson and Horrell working dog and Wagg super cheap from Tesco - they're all mixed in with Hi-Fi mince.

Mine are on Arden Grange lamb and rice, back to that from Skinners, it seems to be one of the few that don't make him itch.

They came on RC and he was on JWB for a while, he didn't itch too much but his coat condition was crap.

His sister would probably look well if I fed her cornflakes

It's so hard to decide. They're on Hill Science at the moment but the breeder is concerned they are a little loose on it, even though they've been regularly wormed.

They're going to the vets for a final check up on Friday, before collection.

I have a supply of Hill Science but am looking to decide what to change him over to, slowing introducing it over a period of several days.

Orijen for my two. Its a BARK food, and ease of use for me, instead of having to make up food from fresh.

Its 70% meat, and 30% Fruit/Veg - zero grain. Nothing unnatural in it, and I know they are also getting all the vits and mins they need.

James wellbeloved every time

Jack was fussy like no other dog I've ever met and he'd only eat nature's diet (wet food) and JW.

Rosie adores JW, she was weaned onto a wet diet but I'm trying to change her over slowly, she's not complaining. Wet food gives her the runs, even puppy stuff, and JW is doing the trick in being gentle enough yet keeping her belly full. They also do these littletreats called mini jacks which are hypoallergenic and ideal for training as they're really tasty (she thinks so anyway!) but small enough for a pup.

I also like chudleys for working dogs. My spangle lived and breathed chudleys for ten years, and he lived to be 18 and was active right to the end.

I've looked at the science diet stuff at the vets and truly believe it's just a rip off...
