We are getting on amazingly with raw feeding and my puppy is looking fantastic (the vet even commented on how amazingly shiny her coat is looking and her overall condition!) but I am not too sure what fruit and veg to be adding in.

She has a selection of minced meat from a raw dog feed supplier but it is a mixture of meat/bone/offal only, not a complete food with veg added in. She is currently getting 5% of her body weight as recommended for a growing pup (she is 5 months old on Friday) and this is working well.

Any ideas on what fruit and veg to get and add in? And how often? I want to start using fresh stuff from the farm shop if possible so I can do a weekly shop for us and a little extra for her.

Thanks in advance :)

I will admit, I never feed mine veg at all - they eat grass and (in Flick's case) blackberry leaves if they fancy the variety :)

I am glad you both said that, I was nuder the impression I HAD to give her fruit and veg?!

Thanks Splashgirl45... trust me though, the cute look is deceiving :-p

My raw fed rottie gets no veg. I dont believe its necessary in a raw diet and frankly it makes her itch the bejesus out of herself if she gets hold of any. Yeast overgrowth, ear infections..the lot! Feeding veg isn't essential, its an optional extra. If you're going to do it though remember it needs to be blitzed up as dogs cant break down the plant fibres, so you need to do this for them. This is one of the reasons i dont feel like it shoud be included, if we have to partially digest food for our dogs to be able to eat it, it doesn't need to be there at all :)

Thanks for that Toast, She seems to go a bit sickly after having veg so I must admit I did wonder if she would actually be benefiting from it. And the amount of my garden she eats, I doubt she is missing out anything :)
Thanks everyone!

My lot don't get veg except an occasional carrot (frozen are good for teething puppies). They get scraps as we're cooking, but I don't give them veg. They all eat grass when they want. I can see no benefit to adding veg/fruit. Some veg-celery family-is not good for dogs.
