The saddle I got with my horse is too small for her so I have just been given a 17 1/2" leather GP saddle. Turns out its not wide enough so I need to change the gullet to an extra wide. I don't know wher to start! Sorry if I'm sounding thick! :D

I think you can only change the gullet with Wintec synthetic saddles so if your saddle is leather this is probably not going to be possible. Your best bet is to get a qualified saddler out to look at the saddle on your horse and he/she should be able to tell you whether it will be possible to adjust it (in the workshop) or not.
I hope that helps. Good luck!

Depends on the make of saddle, I know Kent & Masters leather saddles have changeable gullets, but I'm not sure about others. You're probably best getting a qualified fitter to look at it anyway.

Bates saddles are made by the same people as Wintec and they are leathr and have interchangable gullets. They do not tend to fit flat wide backed horses too well though. OP what make is your saddle? Wintec/Bates do a measurement guage that you can purchase to help you decide which is right for your horse. If you definitely hve the right gullet size then changing the gullet is a simple 10 minute job.
