After a new mare rearing up, falling over backwards and landing on my leg (breaking it!) I am beginning to feel a little more safety concious and have decided to invest in a new hat (mine made a horrible noise when i hit the deck last week!). I'm currently riding in a champion ventair hat, which i found comfortable but I'm not convinced about the safety of these type of hats anymore! I know they meet all the current safety standards, but I can't help feeling more safe in a nice sturdy skull cap! I'm liking the look of the the champion (like the ventair, but without the fixed peak), and the Charles Owen J3...but I have to admit I haven't really looked around! Looking to do a bit of eventing over the summer, so would like something with as good a safety reputation as possible! I'd also like something with ventilation ideally, price not really too much of an option- as long as it keeps my head in one piece!!
Any recommendations, or types that I should steer well clear of?
Thanks!
