Planning ahead a little(!), I am planning on entering 2 hunter trials, the 1st being on September 23rd and the 2nd on the 7th October, both held at Munstead. It will be the 1st time we've done a 'run' so to speak as so far we have had group instruction at every fence, stopping and waiting as we go and not really jumping and galloping on in between fences. We're just back from camp - which involved 3 XC schooling sessions!- and we were happily jumping 2'6 to 2'9 fences with no difficulty what so ever. My query is, i have identical choices for heights on both the days, there is the 2'3, the 2'9 and the 3-3'3. I think it would be a wise idea to do the 2'3 first but should I progress to the 2'9 two weeks later or not? The only obstacle we have difficulty with is ditches, and the one included on the 2'3 course we are fine with! Not sure whether the 2'9 includes a ditch or not but was just after some opinions. I'll see how we go on the 23rd first and then decide but what do you guys think i should do?
Thankyou!

I would personally go for the 2ft3 as you havent done it before and it would be less pressure as its a height you know you can do easily. You just have to worry about getting round. Thats what I would do so you get confident riding a good round rather than over facing yourself.

I would see how the first one goes to if you do the other height in 2 weeks time.

I personally would just do the 2'3'' at both because you don't want to push her and her lose confidence, JMO though. You could always enter the 2'3'' for the first one and see how she goes then decide which class to enter for the second one or enter both and see how you feel on the day.
