Which home would you choose??? I just can't decide - don't want him to go . . .

See your hard decision. Won't express my opinion because I can see this forum has voted. But will say having loaned to pc homes for about twelve years
The ponies usually come back well schooled from pony club and in wonderful health. And they rarely 'come back' they get recontracted out to the younger pc members coming up. Even had one do three siblings who was a twelve month loan that got extended. Please don't be put off because its a pc home their not all very competative and pushy. Think the comment about the list was an offhand one not blackmail. If your horse is young at heart pc home if he is an older gent the lady. Its a really personal choice to you.
Good luck.

i would say home one, from what you've said that although you want him to have a quieter life home 2 would be too quiet for as at his age he can still go out and do things and i think he would enjoy home 1 but do what you think (:

HOME 2!

The 14 year old hasnt discovered boys yet - what happens when she does?

The older lady sound much nicer and kinder.

I thought the pony was 14 and the rider 11.

Have you seen the girl ride him - do you think they are suited . Please don't think that all pony club riders are ultra competitive - I know of several who are quiet kind riders who do not 'jump the legs off' as someone previously commented.
Some love dressage and are not that into jumping. As to being pushy - if they think they have found the 'perfect pony' to loan they are probably worried that they might lose out.

It is your decision and I respect which one you decide to go with.

Where are you? my yard is in Brambridge near fair oak....we have space for grass livery and i'd help u with the looking after / feeding etc.....

I agree.

I don't think the child is being overly 'pushy'... just excited :)

By the sounds of it you want him to stay local but please consider... I have loaned horses for about 6 years... I would not be happy with the 'owner' just popping down every now and then to ride them.

Well, I have made my decision!

Having been to visit both yards I have offered him to home two.

The main reason he is looking for a 'quieter' life is that he doesn't want to be jumping as high as he was with me. With this home he is likely to hack out 3 or 4 times a week (about what he does with me) and will do some showing and RC dressage and some lessons. Basically what he does with me but less jumping.

I feel really bad for the people in home one but I share a number of concerns about whether he is suitable for an 11 year old. He was an angel when they tried him and although his is a real sweetheart he can be stong when spooked etc.

I have nothing against loaning to PC homes but on balance feel that he's more of an adults pony.

Unfortunately I also can't see my situation changing much in the next 18 months (and I still ideally need to find loan homes for 1 or 2 others (sadly inherited ponies / horses last year)) unless I win the lottery!!!

I'm hoping I've made the right decision for him, but I guess only time will tell . . .

Thanks for all your thoughts . . now need to find the courage to pick up the phone to home 1 :(.

think you made the right decision, I would get on the phone quicky to home 1, its like pulling a plaster - you just need to get on with it. just say you felt better having him closer to home, no need to say that you thought he may be to much for them.

Home 2 sounds perfect, if your looking for your horse to have a quieter life. I jumped my pony day in day out at that age like most kids do and will do! I Hope you dont struggle too much picking, it wouldnt be any doubt with me :) goood luck :)
