im wanting some hoof boots for my 22 year old mare she has flat feet and think they would benefit her greatly but there are so many makes and designs to choose from I was looking at cavillo but was told they come off easy then was gonna get old macs then was told about the easy boot but theres so many different ones I like the easy boot glove design as it looks more secure shes measuring at 5in wide 4,5in long . any experiences with hoof boots much appreciated thanks becky

We have Equine Fusion jogging shoes and love them. They have never rubbed, never budged when he has been turned out in them or when they are left on overnight and are easy to put on and off once you get the hang of the straps. Expensive but worth it.

The boot that's right for you will be dictates in large part by the horses hoof shape. unfortunately wider than long hooves are one of the hardest to fit,

Gloves are good but they do need an exact tight fit...not sure that's possible with your hoof shape.

The advice seems to be for that shape of hoof either

renegades (pricey but good)
old mac original or boa (but both would prob have to be secondhand as both discontinued)
Possibly equine fusion jogging shoe (pretty pricey but good)

More advice here, the saddlery shop also sells hoof boots and both will offer advice and also offer a hire (for a fee) period as part of purchase.

I'm very impressed by the Easyboot Gloves but my mare's hoof measurements are more round than your horse's, they fit her beautifully. I also found the Hoof Boutique very helpful and would suggest that where fit kits are available, use them they are worth the extra money and time to get it right.

I have had cavallos for a long time and they are good boots, they do not come off ,I even turned out in mine and they are quite forgiving on fit!
I now have the Equine fusions which are light comfy boots, I got them from Bitless & Barefoot, you can trial them and Suze there is so helpful!:)

Hi,

People are usually very happy with Cavallos when they get the right size. Cavallo themselves say a "Simple boot will fit a hoof width that exceeds the length by up to one size."

At 4.5 inches you are just below the range for a size 2 and 5 inches is just above the size 2. There is no substitutes for trying these things on so if you were to go for Cavallos I would try the 2 Simple first.
