I have had my mare insured with e and l for the past 3 years just for public liability but as she has now grown up and is bsja showjumping and eventing i would like to insure her for a larger value than i paid and also include vets fees in her insurance. E and l have significantly increased the amount i pay monthly and im now paying £20 a month just for 3rd party on a value of £1150.
I would now like to insure her for around £3500 - £4000 and use a company that are very good at paying out claims should i be unfortunate enough to need them. I have heard from a few people that e and l rarely pay out for claims.
Many thanks in advance.

I'm with stoneway insurance, am in the process of claiming for PSD injury and they pay your vet direct and paid up on receipt of the first invoice and claim form (£1200 odd) as an interim payment whilst the claim is ongoing. I have to pay my excess to the vet direct. So all simple, I'm not out of pocket waiting for them to pay me, no quibble, fuss etc. I just rang up, asked for a claim form and sent it plus invoice to them about 6 weeks later.

Been with them two years and is the first claim I've made but so far am very impressed.

PS and covered for high end risky stuff was very reasonably priced too.

Not many people have heard of them (in fact my vet hadn't dealt with them before) but they get 10/10 from me!

Highly reccomend Equestrian Direct (01494 446080). They have been absolutely brilliant with the 3(!) concurrent claims that I currently have running for one of my horses. Not only have they been great with the claims, they are always polite and helpful on the phone, and the staff are 'horsey' so they know exactly what you're going through.

I have my retired field ornaments insured with NFU (just because they have been for years and I now get a good 'mutual bonus' discount, which increases each year). I have (touch wood) only claimed through them once - but they were very good and prompt to settle.

Would have previously recommened NFU but since waiting for a payment for over 5 months and then when rang up to ask re it's status was told it hadn't even been looked at yet becuase they were very busy. 5 MONTHS I ask you!!!!! Also have heard from other people on the yard that this is becoming more and more frequent with them, even when paying directly to the vets which can become very embarassing!
