In an ideal world which horsebox would you have? Looking for something that can carry at least 3 horses but pref 4/5, something with decent living and all amenities along with plenty of storage as I event so need space for lots of tack etc. Really like the look of Oakleys, Soverigns and Equicruisers so far.

Over 7.5t and I have a LGV C

You will be under full EU tacho regs so ... do you work during the week?

I know its going away from your original question but many driving private LGV C horseboxes are unaware that they come under these tight regs

I do work during the week and I wasn't aware of that, thank you very much I will get some research done :)

As there are no replies to your original question I will carry on with this and hope you do not mind and you will see why most only use LGVs under 7.5 tonnes so they do not come under the regs

A fixed week (known as 'week') for the regs is from Sunday midnight to Sunday midnight

If any EU regs driving such as driving a private horsebox LGV over 7.5 tonnes GVW is done at any time within that week then any other work done in that week must legally be officially recorded

There are 3 options to record that other work - input directly into a digital tachograph (long winded) - make written records on digital printout paper or, the easiest way, to use analogue cards

One analogue card (Frisbee) to be used for each day so 5 used if working Mon to Fri and each with your name date start and finish time on them
They can be binned after 29 calendar days because there only purpose is to show what has been done over the last 4 weeks in regards to the weekly and daily rests

No records for other work need to be done in a week where no EU regs driving was done

The EU regs state that a regular weekly rest of 45 unbroken hours must be taken at least every other week
A weekly rest of at least 24 unbroken hours must be taken in the weeks where a 45 is not required
A week that has no records will be assumed to be a regular 45 hour weekly rest week

Generally that means driving a LGV over 7.5 tonnes GVW can only be done every other weekend if the driver does another job from Monday to Friday

A daily rest of at least 9 hours must also be done and fit into the 24 hour period from when any work was started if under EU regs for that day

Lets say you start an office job on Friday at 8am and then want to drive a LGV that evening - you must be finished driving by 11pm because that leaves 9 hours in 24 to get in the daily rest

As you can see its not easy to keep legally within these rules especially if you wanted to drive the LGV two weekends in a row

Still think a horsebox over 7.5 tonnes GVW is a good idea?
