I am doing some research before renewing my policies and had a couple of claims this year which seemed to take forever to settle.

So just interested to see who you say pays their claims the quickest and with the least fuss.

I have made a few claims with petplan one for colic surgery for a mare I had they paid out within 3 weeks and have had ongoing claims for my dogs leg they have paid up to now 3grand to my vets and I was insured for 2 months before the claim.

I've had a big claim with on going treatment being paid by SEIB. They've paid each invoice within a week of receiving it and were a pleasure to deal with.

Think rather a difficult one to survey really. Alot will depend on what the claim is for and whether the claimant provides the required details necessary for a company to decide on a settlement.

I think as far as your survey goes, all but 1 of the listed companies would act in a professional manner and deal with a claim as promptly as possible.

Amtrust received my claim one day and I received the cheque the next. Cant get any faster than that - not small either as it included scans, vet visits, nerve blocks and cortisone injections

NFU!!!! Have been fantastic. Pay v.promtly and paid my vets and vet hospital directly. Helpful on the phone (when i was trying to find out claiming loss of use)

You forgot the market leader, the one that gives you a mutual benefit bonus deduction of your premium every year, fast claim handling, comprehensive cover and pleasant call centre staff. NFU of course! Bad experience with E&L, good experiences with Pet Plan.

The only one I know of with a bad reputation for not paying out are e&l but alot of 1st time buyers go with them because they're cheap. Petplan are supposed to be good. I have NFU but haven't claimed on anything in the nearly 6 years I've had her so don't really know.

E&L have had an apalling reputation for years. Most vets consider a horse insured with them as not insured

NFU for me too

NFu
My vets have direct invoiving to NFU-
One time they paid the invoices befoer I even got my normal end of month statement!
They treat anyone with E&L as if they are uninsured.

My vets do deal with E&L - but they've been waiting over two months now for my claim to pay out. The vets have said that they nearly always pay but they nearly always delay too!! Wont be going with them again as not impressed! Would also have ticked NFU as they were brill in the past....lesson learnt!

How many people posting have had a recent payout and if so with who?

I have had pay outs with petplan and seib ( and believe it or not after a year of fight e&l ) both very quick, however five years ago with petplan and 3 years ago with seib.

The reason I say this is even the so called good payers seem to be dragging their feet on what appears to be straight forward claims,( both peplan and nfu,) so I wonder if it is the sign of the times that insurance will be harder and harder to get a payment quickly.

None of the above.

I have always rated NFU very highly.

I have had a fair few claims over the years (3 in the last 7 months, one fairly large...) and they have always been fantastic at paying out and in good time

I have found AmTrust Equine to be very good with their claims.

Like Old Mare I sent a claim in one day and it was paid the next, direct in to my vets account.

Had a claim with NFU last December - £500. Paid out promptly and call centre staff efficient (when I managed to get through although was over Xmas)

pet plan are really good and they offer discounts if you insure your dogs and horses with them..they have paid out a lot for my dog and the bill has been settled within one to two weeks.

I dont use NFU for the horses but we do with the tractors, and they paid out very quickly but we have had a few claims recently so premiums have gone up.

I like nfu, as you can just pop into your local office with any problems or to check on claims...where as with some other insurance companies you are ringing call centres..on hold for ages..and have to explain your self over and over again

One with E and L from last October "Cheque is in the post" and has been for the last three weeks - I now have them on speed dial

. All vets I've dealt with have accepted direct payment from E and L.

Current one with NFU. Main bulk of vet bill from mid-February. Thank you, this thread has reminded me to call them tomorrow to see how it's going...
