Which is best santa fe or Terrano??

I am pulling my hair out trying to find a reasonable 4x4 to insure, use as an everyday vehicle and tax... my budget is max 3500k so i have accepted that i will have to get something with a slightly higher milage but the santa fe does better mpg however the terrano is a chain rather then cambelt... argh what to choose??

also as a second question why is the preference diesal rather then petrol?? can you tow with a petrol??

santa fe, its one of the top 5 towing vehicles. it will be cheaper all round to run than a terrano. Diesel has more torque for pulling than a petrol and although diesel is more expensive it is more economical and lasts longer than petrol.
