Looking towards summer and trying to be organised, I am going to try and buy my fly masks this week.

What does everyone recommend? Any v good ones or v crap ones which should be avoided?

I don't want one which attaches to the headcollar.

We have tried loads but the one we now stick with is a shires they are by far the best fly mask, its is soft and fleecey around the nose and the ears arent mesh its made out of like a silkey material with minute holes in it, the best way of describing it is made out of the same material as basketball players vests are made of (not a very good description I know!) Our horse lives in it through the summer we get bad midges and flies and I reccomend the Shires 100%.

Definitely Cashel Crusader for me. Watch the weather though, got all 3 of mine kitted out, bought fly spray/sun screen and we scared the sun away and it rained!

my nice blue one

The only one that fits my horse is the Rambo. She has an odd head though

A lot of my friends use the Equilibrium Max ones, they are good because they cover a lot more of the head than normal masks which is particularly useful for one I know with sweet itch.
The one I particularly like that we use at work is the Cashel Crusader. They have millions of different sizes, they fit well, and they only really come off if the horse is very determined to get it off!
It's very important to me that the fly masks I use are well-shaped so they don't stick in the eyes. Those are the three that I find fit best. Some of the ones you can get are so flat and useless and pretty literally blind the horse!
