At the moment i have one of those throwgood ?? soft web girths on him but i am really dissatisfied with it, every time i tighten the girth it bunches up on the end where the elastic joins and i spend 5 minutes trying to get my fingers behind it to straighten it out so it is comy for him!!! everything else about it is fine and it seems comfortable for him when i have managed to sort it out but it is a hassle every time i tighten it!

Any suggestions of a good soft girth with elastc that wont do this??

Stubben cord (string) girths. I have used them for years and they do not rub and distribute the tightness across the whole width of the girth, plus no trying to get the 'edge' over the bottom of the numnah.

I HATE string girths. I too used them, but only when I was younger and have now moved on because I always found that they had trapped hairs between the string which can't be comfortable.
I have a Decathlon synthetic girth which is elasticated but use cottage craft with elastic for younger horses as it has it's own stretch. I wouldn't use leather on a young horse (we did once after starting him in a cottage craft with stretch and he had a fit!)
Have you tried a slightly longer girth so that the elastic is over the flaps and not on his skin? You could also try a stretchy cover for the girth which goes almost up to the buckles and therefore covers the elastic.
If you're on a yard why not ask around and see if you can try some out?
I hope you find something that works for you both!

I use them too. They're not like old-fashioned string girths and v soft and comfortable, plus no elastic so v hard to overtighten.

My saddler says the wintec elastic girths are the best. This is because the elastic runs through the middle, they are soft enough you can squidge them in your hand, it's hard to overtighten them and they are perforated.
Personally I find they catch on the bottom of the saddle flap which makes them hard to do up and they make the horse sweaty.
It's what the saddler recommended though so it's what I brought. I prefer the leather girths with elastic at both ends but apparently these are easy to over tighten and not as secure.
