Which is the lowest 'calorie' horsehage?

Going to try and get some today to give Olive's airways a break and can't get my hands on some big bale haylage straight away. I haven't fed horsehage for a long time - can someone remind me which one is less fizzy/calorific please? I seem to remember green and blue?
 
I've had a couple of really dodgy batches of Marksway Hage recently :-( And the stuff that smelt o.k they wouldn't eat, not good at that price?!?
Gone on to Gelstons. Really happy, ponies love it & its easier on the purse!
Devon Hage is also ment to be good. Both do Hifi & Original versions
 
Hmmmm, seems like something serious amiss with Marksway this year then.
Must be seriously bad for my cob to turn his nose up. He's s dustbin!
 
Oh if anybody does get dodge bales horsehage do take it very serious and would like the batch number on each bag which tells them what field it came from so if there's a prob with a certain field they can look into it.
 
Ours haven't been touching theirs either and they love it! I've never heard of / seen Gelstons haylage but will look into it if that's an alternative, so much of our horsehage is going to waste this year. We've been in touch with marksway and they said it's been a tough year for making haylage but apparently haven't had many comments from people saying their horses won't eat it.. thought it was just us!
And yes - blue is the one you're after ideally! x
 
I had one Marksway bag full of oak leaves & acorns!
I took mine back to where it came & exchanged but got fed up with keep going back time & time again(made sure batch no was diferent each time!) so I gave up. I did ask if much had come back & they said no (doubtful)
Whether or not they informed Marksway or not I have no idea.
 
Hmmm interesting! We've had some dodgy marksway bags too!! Thought it was just me!! I've got two left and am now swopping to non-brand farm made big bale, HorseHage TOO expensive for La to not eat it :o

Sorry OP I think Timothy haylage is "supposed" to be less calorific than rye grass haylage, but it all depends when it was cut ;) Feel free to correct me tho :)
 
Well, I couldn't get any marks way horsehage so I have ended up with haysoft... The green high fibre one. I hope I bought the right one..... But I remembered lots of people said 'high fibre'......
 
I've been feeding the blue one all winter with hay. Mare loves it! Have just found out green has more calories would it b ok to switch now? Grass still not growing...!! Horses outside in large bare field, loads of hay just like to give them hage as they love it so much and sure its tastier than hay. Am I being soft...?
