Sorry if this has been discussed before.....

My hunter is now 16 and is starting to feel his legs a bit.....not lame, but decidedly stiff if he's not had a bit of bute.

I would like to get him a decent supplement to help him along a bit, but having tried to research this online it seems like there's such a massive range - I hoped you lovely people might be able to guide me a bit if possible?

I've never used a supplement of any kind before - is there anything in particular I should be looking for?

Thank you, and sorry if I sound like a numpty - in this area, I most definitely am!

My tb is in her 20's and was starting to feel a bit stiff. I put her on the top spec senior balancer which has the full 10:10 joint supplement in it and she has never had a problem since. I also don't do much flat work and nothing in tight circles, no jumping now either as I want her to last. Seems to be working.

You could try Linseed. I've heard great things about it improving not only joints but condition, coat and hooves. I'm just about to put my girl onto it because I've had so many recommendations. You can buy it micronised from charnwood.

I've a 16 yr old who's got nothing wrong but is sometimes stiff. I've tried a few things but find the aviform suppleze gold the best. I find it cost effective as well(pet medicine website sells it cheaper than from the aviform website!). Mine's also on linseed for his weight but that's also beneficial for joints.

I like oviform suppleaze gold too, i've never yet had a horse not respond to it and the difference seems to show in a couple of days. Never looked at the price on the pet meds website but I tend to bulk buy when they have their 3 for 2 offers on.

I gather your talking about linseed if so then yes.

My mares on suppleaze she doesnt have athrirtis just a clicky hock and i found its improved but i will be switching to Equimins Flexijoint because i think its better value when worked out if i buy the 1.5kg tub.

I put my idxtb whos 17 in april on Naf joint flex as he was getting quite stiff ,got it from my local feed store at £16.50 for 2 litres and it lasted over a month, it says use about 4 capfulls a day but I used 2 capfulls a day and it worked wonder, hoepfully I will be able to find it somewhere cheaper!

The vet at our yard who has. A 27 year

I've just done the same swap the other way because I thought the supplease worked out the better value one (but with my maths skills...) We get our Supplease from the pet medicine company, it's only £65 from them if that makes any difference to your calculations :)

I have to say our mare seems better on the supplease than she was on the flexijoint.

Thanks for that, i just did the comparison and i found flexijoint nearly £10.00 cheaper so think i will give that a try :)
