prolite or a really good quality sheepskin - that said i personally think that they work best with a soft girth inside - leather is still hard so a wintec type girth works best IMHO
Tried a prolite one last year and sold it withing a week! Hated it, it turned over so the padded bit was on the outside of the girth, not against the horse.
What make sheepskin would you recommend? My leather girth is pretty soft.
I have the Stephens Lambswool one. Have had it years and although I don't use it much it has worn very very well. It is lovely and soft and works really really well. Would really recommend it. KM Elite Proucts do them
Don't get Prolite of it is for girth galls they are fairly useless at stopping rubs- plus only certain girths fit in them!!
I know it isn't what you asked but thought I would share my experience anyway- the Thorowgood Airoform Girth is really good at preventing girth galls- Lillie always had girth galls until I started using one on recommendation from my saddler- it is'nt as smart as a traditional leather girth but it serves a purpose. It is also really easy to keep clean!
i have had an eleasticated knitted thing and i cant remember who made it - its stretchy with no joins at all and elasticated at both ends - does any one recognise it and can remember the make - at the moment i have a stubbern anti chaff string girth - its wonderfull really wide and horse doesnt sweat underneath it x
Thanks for the replies. Tried to order a Stephens one but the place that does next day delivery didn't have it in stock. So instead I have ordered a Bartl one. It looks ok and should be here before my lesson on saturday *won't ride on saturday if she isn't healed up*
