We're going to need a microchip activated catflap when we move the cats to an estate house in a couple of months. Which one do people recommend and which aren’t as reliable?

Thanks in advance!

HHD recommended one, we have the larger Staywell chip one. Batteries seem to last just over a year, despite our 7.5kg fluffy chap bashing in and out very frequently!
Been in constant use for about 3.5yrs. All I need to do is clean the door when it gets v yukky and remove the build up of cat hair from the top hinge part once a month.
I did pop the dog through it too to get chip recognised but she never uses it.
V happy to recco it.

My daughter and I both have Sureflap from Petsathome. Mine has been in use for years and we’ve had no problems with it.

I’ve got a Sureflap however it’s now stopped working. It probably lasted about 4 years before it went wrong. Its now just a normal cat flap.

I’ve actually recently bought a new one which I haven’t fitted yet due to new cat. I always used rechargeable batteries but when I was looking at the instructions it said not to use rechargeable which is maybe why it’s stopped working. I also found it didn’t work if the microwave which is near the back door was going. The best bit about them is listening to them lock and then unlock then lock then unlock whilst your cat sits near it deciding whether to go out or not ?

Also have a Sureflap as well as a feeder from them. Their customer service was really great when I needed a replacement part that I had trouble finding.

Also had a sure flap at the previous house, the microchip one. Batteries didn't last long because one cat liked looking out lol. When I buy another for this house, I'll get the version with the app so I can limit opening hours too.

I don’t think they do a mains flap. It will tell you when the batteries need changing, there is a red light on the flap and if you get the connect it will send you a notification. I never change the batteries straight away as it takes me ages to remember to buy some more. I find they last for a quite a while but have never taken notice of quite how long. There are multiple cats using the flap.
