Hey everyone.

Currently got my boy in a 'Happy Mouth' but there's not a lot that's 'happy' about him when I use it, soo.... I'd like to give the NS bits a try.

Bit of background info. Had him a year, very green, very sensitive in the mouth. I was thinking about trying the team up or a Tranz Angled Lozenge.

Not used a NS bit before so any advice much appreciated.

PS: must be dressage legal :)

Don't think you can go wrong in a Tran angled lozenge. This is what i put my baby horse in. I love NS bits! Won't use anything else now.

Bcked my spotty in a happy mouth french link loose ring and was far too fat for him and used to open mouth. So moved him onto the team up and he is fab in it! Now have all 3 of mine in a team up so would def recommend them! But look for the ones with a thicker mouth piece (they come in 2 sizes) as the narrow one is far too narrow really.

I had the team up for a year and really loved it buy as my pony has started to develop self-carriage he started to take a dislike to it and is now in a Myler.

:) don't spose you'd sell your team up bit?!

I'm unsure what size to get actually as I read NS bits come up small? MEasured ned this morning using the NS template, and it said 5 1/4... so would I go for a 5 1/2?

Sure :) I'll have a look at the sizing when I get outside - the one that I was using was a 5 1/2 but I have given to someone else at my yard. For some reason I have two though?! Will pm you later :)

I have just put my 4yo in the NS starter bit, I am very pleased so far. I was having real trouble with her drawing tongue back and over bit and twisting it, generally not settled. Now she keeps her tongue exactly where she should and never moves or opens her mouth/tongue, fingers crossed this continues.

She will just be starting ridden work again soon.

Just checked and my spare one is 5 3/4. :(

If you try the 5 1/2 and decide you want bigger feel free to contact me again as its just sitting here :)

You want one that encourages forward going.. Is your current happy mouth jointed, French link or straight bar?? Where are you based? I was on a training course yesterday at ns. The team up is a very good all round bit, whereas the trans angled lozenge is very good for responsiveness and clarity of aids, it reduces the interference with the upper palate. What sized mouth/tongue has your horse got? And also about sizing , you need to measure your bit from the inside of the hole to the inside of the hole, to get an equal comparison to a ns bit.. If you want anymore info, pm me. :)
