Which new hat?

My Charles Owen show jumping hat has had it

Boo and hoo. Wasn't very old I don't think. Ah well.

Soooo, need a new hat. Definately have a CO shaped head (Champion don't fit - long skinny head

).

Any thoughts or ideas? A fairly open budget depending on me getting a new contract lol. Not able to ride for three weeks, so fingers crossed have time!

Quite like the look of the CO goldy coloured cross-country hats.

D says can have another one for Christmas, so need one for hacking and a bit of schooling. Want to jump, but won't be doing anything serious this side of next year(!!!!!).

Our local saddlers had a lovely CO in brown leather - sounds odd but looks luuuuuuuuuuurvely!!

The CO gold one is gorgeous!!! go for it!! Ive got the CO J3 and its really comfy, but i have to admit i was looking longingly at the new gold, pink and silver ones in robinsons!!

I thought of the pink one, but other than the usual threats to disown me (daughters, Friend), I'll clash face wise lol.

Gold would suit the Dizzy one...

Hubby is rather keen on the safety aspect! He wants me to ride in a motorbike open face helmet as they offer more protection... says I can ride in a 'normal useless bit of stuff' when at shows

I told him they all reach the required standards - his response was not complimentary (something to do with padding and area of protection).

Does this mean you are gonna keep going? Good. I would suggest a full face motor bike helmet and you can get them in pink!!!

The CO in gold is lovely, tried to try one on when I was looking but it totally didn't fit me!
Are you going to get one of those Point2 air jackets to satisfy hubby too?

Also re glasses, I can highly recommend the ultraflex sort from Specsavers for not breaking and staying in shape. My shoes are velcro fastening ones from Ecco about 2 years old and worn daily so tatty now the velcro keeps coming undone, consequently I tripped and landed flat on my face with the glasses taking the impact - cut a glasses shaped line round my eyebrow, but the glasses remained intact and unbroken.

Dubsie - good plan. I currently look like I should have one ear stuck on about three inches higher lol. And buy some new shoes woman!

Gulp! Just seen the price! £399. Ouch. More than the daughter's Exo cage, and that made the eyes water

Its not just the price

!! Check out the pages of posts about them just after Burghley - you still have to wear a normal bp over the top, the Exo has a better and proven safety record for preventing injuries. It would seem the air canister sometimes goes off for no reason - imagine the spook from Dizzy if that goes off

!!

The safest hat on the market is the Pro Tector - it has SNELL standard, same as motorbike helmets

They also come in any colour you desire, bling if you want it, anything at all

They are VERY comfortable too and come in varying sizes within 3 shells (S, M and L). At £270 they are not cheap, but I have one and it is worth every penny IMO.

PS there are lots more colours available than it says on the site, so call them, they are very friendly! Tell them I recommended them, I bought a green hat from Windsor, they may even give you a discount

MrsM I have a CO shaped head too, can't get a champion anywhere near me!

I now have a HS1 and it is very comfy and comes in silver, which whilst not pink isn't black! :grin

worth trying one on, it is lovely and light but fits really well.

The Exo won't fit my 'female shaped body' - roflmao. Daughter has one though and I do likes it

The guy that designed the Pro Tector also designed the HS1, he is very hot on hat safety

You can use the Pro Tector XC too, so all good there!
