Nanna needs another stable rug as he only has one and a couple of fleeces. I've managed to dig out a thermatex thats miles too big for him but will have to do for now even though he looks like hes wearing a dressing gown!

I was looking in a couple of catalogs and the internet and found these brands and the rugs looked quite nice. The brands are:

Jazzy Pony
Knight Rider
Gallop
Rhinegold
requisite
shires
H zone
Jumpers horse line

So if you have any of these brands rugs could you tellmme the fit of them, do they come up big/small, are they hardwearing and how long have yours lasted.

I don't have much to spend as I have spent it all buying christmas presents! but if you know any other brands that have good quality rugs that are not hugley expensieve let me know!

Of that lot, Jumpers Horse Line and Shires- but JHL is a favorite, and I have a stack of rugs by them, that have fitted all my TB cross, or fairly 'blood' type horses well. The Shires I have have fitted my cobbier natives well too, but I've not put a JHL on a cobby type so wouldn't know about fit for them.

I have two Knight Rider ones, I'd never seen them before last year but mine are really well made. Slightly generous, but not so much so that I would buy the next size down.

I have a gallop and for my horse it is the best make you can get. It's the only one that fits him properly. They are made for medium-heavyweight horses in my experience, so if you have got a fine horse probably wouldn't fit as well.

I'd go with Shires or JHL too. Wouldn't touch Rhinegold again.

Why don't you just use a warmer turnout rug in the meantime if you have one & save your pennies?

JHL

I'd choose horseware over any other though or Premier Equine.

Shires are great and very hard wearing
Got 2 Knight Riders which came with a horse we got and they're surprisingly good for the money
Got one gallop combo - very odd fit round the neck but v v v hard wearing, long lasting and tough.
JHL come up quite generous

I find Saxon are quite shallow, depth-wise

JHL, I think they are great rugs, although I do find they come up a bit on the small side, although this is not such a problem with a stable rug.
I really like masta stable rugs, they're not too expensive.

i know its not on the list but i always have and always will use weatherbeeta just think so highly of the rugs they dont slip even when i buy a bigger size for my growing youngster they are simply fab and reasonable priced try horserugs4u or equestrian cleances sites for some great bargains x

Jumpers horse line!!! fantastic rugs. Size wise they come up quite big, espicially around chest. my 15.3 skinny tb is in 6ft MW and 6ft3 HW LOVE THEM!!

My Shitland has just eaten his JHL indoor rug, it fitted him beautifully around the neck, was deep enough and washed beautifully. It was 5' and he normally takes a 4' 9", so I think they come up small. It was hard wearing but when he sets his mind to something, there's nothing that will stop him.

I've got a knight rider turnout, fits my pony well and has stood up to him fighting his way through hedges and round trees!!! It was only cheap too. Still going and bought it about 3 years ago. Also got a stable rug which is now 6 years old and he has worn it every winter, so quite impressive!!!

JHL from that list. I picked up a MW JHL one on ebay a couple of years ago, would def get again and am planning to get JHL mws for all three of them next year. My favourite rugs are Mark Todd tho, out of choice would buy every single time, fit everything from my 14.2hh arab through the LW 15.3hh WB and the MW 16.2 ISH x WB, and even when we had a 16,2hh RID who was a BIG girl, still fine on her!

In order of preferance for me:-

Mark Todd
Weatherbeta

I would never ever buy another Saxon - shame really as they are good rugs but just far to shallow for anything other than the finest TB.

Shires are good, I just got a new stable rug from them and its lovely. nice and deep too. a bit shorter than i'd like, I went a size up and it just fits so i would recommend buying big

I like weatherbeeta and amigo or rambo. Amigo really do come up short, weatherbeeta are what they say on the label.
Hope that helps!
