which of these clippers to go for?

So I'm sick of my stupid Liveryman Harmony clippers forever refusing to budge the cobs coat that I've decided I am going to buy some proper clippers tomorrow - I borrowed some a month ago but he is desperate to be done again before the weekend.

Just looked on the website for my nearest stockist (very good, big equestrian store) & they have in the following.....

Liveryman Arena Plus
Wosely Swift
Wosely Hunter

Are any of these 3 any good & if so which of the 3 would you go for? They would only be lightly used as I only have 1 pony although hopefully he'll be off to a new home soon then we'll be upsizing to a horse of some sort!

No experience of the others but we have the Liveryman Arena and they are excellent at getting through our Highland Ponies extra wooley coat, never had any issues with them. Do periodically send them off for servicing (had them about 12 years now).
 
That's what I like to hear thank you! The pony of ours doesn't get mega hairy but his coat is quite course which I think is why the battery ones struggle
 
These aren't on your list but are perhaps worth a look at? I use Lister Liberty's and they do all of our horses really well (ISH, TB and 2 cobs). They can be used cordless etc as well.
 
I'd always go for the most heavy-duty that your budget allows for - I really rate Wolseley myself, so would go for the Hunter out of those two.

I have heard Lister are very good but am not sure of who stocks them locally & could really do with getting some tomorrow. I'm presuming they are all basically the same anyway?!
 
I have arena plus clippers, they must be 14 years old and still going strong - I will replace like for like when I finally have to!

I had Wolseleys before that and they lasted donkeys as well but I have clipped with a friends and the motor gets really hot, so hot you can barely hold them! Someone on the yard had the swift clippers for their cob and they really struggled with the hair (much hairier cob than yours mind you!) they now have Lister Star clippers which are just about man enough but only just!
 
We had Wolseleys at work and they seemed pretty indestructible!

I have Premier ones which I think are based on Hauptners and they've been immense for me.
 
I have Wolsley Harriers. They are a bit noisy and you have to remember to clean and wash the air filter, but they cut anything. If you ever drag something out of the field and just clip it muck and all...they will do it.
 
I also have the wosley harriers will cut through the thickest off coats no problem.
They have also been kicked out of my hands on more than one occasion and are none the worst for ware.
 
i have 4 pairs of wolsley swift. they will deal with most coats if serviced and good blades on. i also have heigner which are good and very quiet but dont clip so short or as good a finish as the wolsley, also have lister which are good but a little more fussy about hair quality then the wolsley. i clip on average 3 to 5 per day from sept to march. i love my wolsleys the best!!!!

ive just bought some of these to replace a pair of hiniger cordless that were struggling with the work load and i'm over the moon with them :)
they felt really flimsy at first as there very light to hold ,but they have much more power than my old set :)

the only crit i have with these is that it would be very easy to put them down and walk away with them still attached to the bat pack around my waist and break/drop them but thats just the kind of stupid thing i'd do :o
 
Wolsleys last for ever, but they are noisy, and even non clipper shy horses I have come across dislike them!!

Heiniger delta's work very well on very thick coats, and are quiet :) Heavy though! I love my heiniger progress clippers, and they have worked well on thick hunter coats without an issue.
 
I have Lister Liberty's I got them because they are quite small and light in the hand so nice to do full clips with as you don't get arm ache. Mine have lasted me for 7 years now and are still going strong despite only having them serviced once. They also have the option for battery powered and mains.
 
Well I've been to the shop this morning.

They had a lot more options in stock & I had a good feel of them all switched on. I went for the Wolsely Hunter in the end as I was very impressed with the quietness & how they were still pretty light in hand.

Now to try them out this aft..... :)
